OK, my view at this point...

Pres-elect Trump is just laying down his opening salvo regarding tariffs.

All his posturing of "across the board" may be enacted initially for his benefit.

But what will really matter is what Pres-elect Trump does on the longer term.

The transactional ~art of the deal~ to benefit him. Not the long term benefit to the United States.

What will be the transactional deal he gets from tariffs?

Will he reduce the tariffs on the imported goods that are needed by corporations (a.k.a., wealthy people) who supply him with money?

How much leeway does a President have in setting tariffs?

Can a President use tariffs for his own advantage?

Back in Trump 1.0, his obedient Congress passed a tax bill that moved $2trillion dollars to the already wealthy. And now in Trump 2.0, he wants to renew that bill.

Not one Democrat voted for that bill back in 2017 when the Republicans passed it.

A lawsuit has raised questions over why a village with little crime and fewer than 300 residents needs a reserve police force of that size. More questions center on how well reserve officers are trained and whether many of them actually help police the community " even though they are issued a badge and allowed to carry a gun.

"I'll explain one thing everybody in this country needs to know: If the president [Trump], and I'm certain that he will, fulfills his commitment to increase tariffs up to 20 percent across the board, 60 percent on China, 200 percent on John Deere manufactured in Mexico, then we're going to pay more than just to put this in the consumers' stores," Maxwell said. ...

I agree with the former, though I do not like that approach.

Per the GOP, an employer seems to be able do what it wants to its workers. And I am as surprised as you are that the DNC seems to have adopted the GOP tactics towards employees.

And, I'll add, that approach towards employees is likely why unions have been increasing in popularity of late.

But for the latter, I'd proffer that my comments on this thread (and others) indicate otherwise. I will say overtly, how the DNC handled this matter is wrong.

For starters on how I fell towards workers, my #4 here ...

For starters, I look to the Constitution, and how a party supports the Constitution.

So, at step one in my decision process, the MAGA cult loses.

But this is 2024, and the next election is a year away.

So, both the Republicans and the Democrats (and, here in CT, Independents) will have opportunities to convince me to vote for them.

So in in answer to your question... So you won't be supporting Democrats?
