Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, November 28, 2024

When the country was riven in half by the Civil War in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November where we could gather and express thankfulness. Eight score and one year later, enjoy the football and the feast of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, cornbread, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. And don't skimp on the gravy. Try to keep that one uncle distracted so he doesn't talk politics.

Okay, so, Thanksgiving. It's a tricky one for the Pagans, right? Because Christmas? Sure, they can come up with some alternative solstice celebration involving, like, mistletoe and woodland creatures. But Thanksgiving? That's a tough nut to crack. Half of them are walking around saying, "What do I have to be thankful for? My crops failed, my love life's a mess, and my goat ate my lucky amulet." And the other half are going, "Thank who? Exactly? The Great Pumpkin? I don't think so."

Came here to wish all Happy Holidays and then I'll go back to my hotmail account and delete all the Black Friday ads.
Potluck later this afternoon at a football free home. Not very American of us.

Christmas is easy for pagans because it is one-third original pagan, one-third godless consumerism and one-third Christian. They can enjoy 66 percent.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Food, family and football!

Lions football at 9:30am (PST) and then Thanksgiving dinner for five at one of our son's restaurants (or at least one the 25 or so that he's responsible for as the corporate brand executive) at 2:00pm.

Happy Thanksgiving you filthy animals.

I did my part. And I did it my way.

And now I am thankful to have just survived the Game as long as I have.

It's all gravy now.

We consider ourselves progressives, but in MAGA world we are labeled commies. All the Pride Flags and unicorns don't help.

Spoke with our son in Detroit. He and his wife just came back from the Thanksgiving day parade and will be watching the Lions game in a bar.

Standing room only admission for $100.

Standing room only admission for $100.

Pretty much encapsulates why I have given up on football. Prices are crazy, contracts through the roof and team valuations continue to climb.
No longer middle class or working family entertainment. Family of 4 can spend over a thousand dollars to attend a game now.
Not a criticism of your son. Lions fans have suffered even more than Vikings fans and I am rooting for them. Year of the Cat.

All Americans have much for which to be thankful this year! A cautionary note, the people that have been running the country in Joe Biden and Kamala's mental absence are working overtime to destroy America. They are not going to stop just because we elected Trump.
