Johnson couldn't hold the caucus together on the spending bill so Trump must be trolling the ranks for someone as un-democratic and un-American as himself who can follow his orders.

If the House really wanted to gum up the works for Trump's confirmation, they'd slip in a dark horse for Speaker so nobody would get the plurality. The margin is so small, it wouldn't take much.

Although I think there's some precedent for changing the dates under certain circumstances.

There will come a time when egos clash between Trump and Musk and Trump will think he's smart enough to run the whole show by himself. Musk will be a handy scapegoat.

I think the same thing will happen between Trump and Putin after Mr. Putin restores the power of the old U.S.S.R. He won't need Trump anymore.

Republicans in the House don't like it when an unelected, unqualified civilian billionaire (Musk) is sticking his nose in government business as if he thinks he's the co-president-elect.

They could put Trump on notice by gumming up the works.

I think this was also brought up during the campaign. Running out of time now unless the House can put on a show about not picking a new Speaker for a week or so. That would set everything back past Trump's confirmation date.

I have no idea what happens after that.

Considering that Trump and Musk are the two biggest money grabbers on the planet, we'd be fools to expect anything less.

And guaranteed it's going to get worse.

They'll probably self-destruct, eventually. But in the meantime, many are going to suffer for the benefit of the few.

The less for everybody else, the more (taxpayer paid) perks for them, without blowing another hole in the national debt.

And this is just the beginning.
