... President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday resurrected his first-term infatuation with obtaining Greenland for the United States. ...

imo, he now seems to be trying to do two things ...

1) deflect from his most embarrassing loss on the budget bill. Yeah, that is a good thing for a politician to do. Admit the loss and move on. Except that, did Pres-elect Trump admit his loss?

2) show that he does not need Mr Musk. I don't see that yet.

The former seems to be his usual beavior.

The latter, however, is more concerning.

So. Once we get Canada and Greenland, will we officially have 52 states, or will they become territories like Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands?

Once we get Canada and Greenland

Don't forget The Bahamas. Hershel Walker is the new US ambassador there. And I'm not kidding.

Don McLean - Vincent (1971)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics in the video of the song, written about Vincent van Gogh....

But if you prefer not to listen...

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

[Chorus]
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

[Verse 2]
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand

[Chorus]
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

[Bridge]
For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
You took your life, as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you

[Verse 3]
Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn, a bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

[Outro]
Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will
...

Esposito: From this day on, the official language of San Marcos will be Swedish. Silence! In addition to that, all citizens will be required to change their underwear every half-hour. Underwear will be worn on the outside so we can check. Furthermore, all children under 16 years old are now... 16 years old!

Crazier than that big old bug-eyed rat cowering in the outhouse back of the chicken coop, the mega MAGAloon should turn his laser-like attention to focusing on the real issue at hand: reuniting Gondwanaland.

Greenland has once again said the idea is "absurd".

COPENHAGEN, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Greenland is not for sale, its elected leader said on Monday, responding to comments made by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump regarding the "ownership and control" of the vast Arctic island that has been part of Denmark for over 600 years.

"Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom," the island's Prime Minister Mute Egede said in a written comment.

Of the various ideas that the 2024 vintage of the Trump administration has thrown around, growing a strategic defense partnership with Greenland and Panama are the two most interesting.

Disregard the headlines of "buying," or "takeover."

IMO, you have to distill Trump's ideas from rhetoric to the most possible form of implementation. In the two cases mentioned above, the only method would be defense partnerships - and that is actionable and realistic, and actually useful in Panama for logistics, and Greenland for Arctic security (similar to the more recent growing partnerships with Northern Norway).
