yeah, that is how Pres trump looks at the world.

A deal with beneficial business aspects.

Who cares about democracy and freedom.So long as "a deal" has been made.

That's why Pres Trump seems to be selling Ukraine down the river to Pres Putin.

Never mind the longer term aspects that deal imposes upon the freedom-loving people of Ukraine.

After three years of the Russians using up so much of their military resources in Ukraine, they offer not much in their cheap threats to the Baltic states , Poland and the NATO countries, other than nukes. Of course, nuking London would mean the slaughter of hundreds of Russian oligarchs (which might be part of Vlad's scheme). I suspect the Poles, Germans and Baltic folks remember the end of WWII, and will want some sort of payback. Such memories die hard in some parts of the world...

They made a deal years ago, and russia (like trump would) failed to honor it. They gave up their nukes in exchange for a promise they would not be invaded. "The result was the Trilateral Statement, signed in January 1994, under which Ukraine agreed to transfer the nuclear warheads to Russia for elimination. In return, Ukraine received security assurances from the United States, Russia and Britain;"

He told them Canada was not suitable as a destination for their monarchy in distress, only the Caribbean.
FDR deliberately structured US intervention to doom the British Empire and take it into American receivership.

In 1945, the US loaned the UK $4.34 billion to help the country avoid bankruptcy after it had devoted most of its resources to the war.

The UK deferred payments in 1956, 1957, 1964, 1965, 1968, and 1976 because exchange rates were considered impractical.

The final payment to the US was $83.25 million, and the final payment to Canada was $22.7 million.

The total amount paid back was almost double the amount borrowed in 1945 and 1946.

My reaction was that people wanted evidence but couldn't produce enough to have a trial. That doesn't mean where there's smoke there's no fire. It was compartmentalized enough that they got away with it.
