Cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) are increasing across the Philadelphia region. The uptick comes as children, who are most susceptible to the virus, get ready to head back to school. Said Dr. Dan Taylor: "In 24 years as a pediatrician, I really have not seen this many cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in my entire career." While common in infants, babies, and toddlers, cases in older kids are growing, he added. "Atypical cases occur in older kids, kids older than five, younger kids get it in the mouth, whereas older kids get it around the mouth and in the arms and legs," he said. "HFMD is unsightly and can be painful at times. The drooling factor definitely makes enterovirus more contagious. An older white liberal woman was so reassured by her moral self-righteousness that she couldn't see that her racism was shining through. The woman was protesting Winsome Sears, the Republican nominee for governor of Virginia, for her stance against boys using the girls' bathroom. A Pentagon-bound Army helicopter that got less than half a mile from a commercial flight landing at nearby Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in May did not have the proper clearance from Pentagon air traffic controllers, a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board said Friday. At their closest, the Black Hawk helicopter and landing Delta Air Lines regional jet were only four tenths of a mile apart and separated by just 200 feet of altitude, causing controllers in the airport tower to force the jet to abort its landing.
