Federal officials on Friday released an updated framework for the Colorado River, requiring Arizona, California and Nevada to significantly reduce their water use in the coming years. The plan, released by the Interior Department's Bureau of Reclamation, reduces the water available for use by the three states by 3 million acre-feet in the coming decade. One acre-foot is enough water for as many as four households to use for a whole year. The cuts represent the largest proposed cuts for those states to date
On July 28, 2026, a Republican-led Senate committee questioned Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a leading face of the U.S. government's COVID-19 response, over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the hearing, Fauci declined to answer by invoking his Fifth Amendment rights more than 100 times. The Fifth Amendment protects people from answering self-incriminating questions. In a November 2022 decision to appoint a court monitor to oversee the Trump family businesses during his civil fraud trial, a judge wrote (PDF Page 9) that Trump invoked "his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination more than 400 times in response to questions posed to him during his deposition." Trump and his defense team did not appear to contest that statement.

More than half of MAGA voters say they would support a Republican candidate accused of sexual assault, according to a new poll. In a recent Politico poll, 66 percent of MAGA voters who cast their ballot for President Trump in his last contest for the White House said they would back a GOP candidate even if "a former partner has accused the Republican candidate of sexual assault" rather than support the Democratic candidate in a hypothetical congressional race. MAGA voters showing support for a Republican candidate alleged to have committed sexual misconduct is not new. In fact, in May 2023, a jury found that Trump himself sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s.

Democratic Socialist Oliver Larkin, who is running to represent Florida's 25th District, blasted President Donald Trump as a "pedophile president" Thursday on Fox News. Larkin was asked by Fox News @ Night anchor Trace Gallagher why he is socialist. "Well, Democratic Socialism is about bringing the systems of government that govern our lives under democratic control. We already pay a Medicare tax, why don't we all have access to Medicare? We already pay into Social Security, why are the wealthy and elite getting away with paying a lower effective tax late on Social Security than the rest of us, with the social security income cap? So the capitalist system in the United States of America, we've seen the great recession, we've seen the enormous transfers of wealth under covid-19 and we want equity in our system," he answered. "So I think the American public was misled in that regard too." He further excoriated narrative pushes around the purpose of the vaccine and the origins of the virus. "This vaccine never prevented infection, so when people said 'vaccinate your children so they don't infect grandma,' that was just a false statement. So very unfortunate," he added. The anti-Trump resistance has settled on its Anthony Fauci narrative. The Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing Wednesday was a witch hunt. Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who deeply influenced the restrictive guidelines during the Covid pandemic, had no choice. The good doctor had to invoke his Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate himself. It's a nice story, but the camera doesn't lie. More than an hour into the proceedings, Senator Bernie Moreno, a Republican from Ohio, exposed the stone wall strategy. He requested those in the audience to stand up if they had paid a professional, legal, or personal price for dissenting from Covid orthodoxies during the pandemic. The senator then asked Fauci to turn around and look at them. Fauci refused.
