Republicans have been facing a problem with voters over high gasoline prices for months " but the economic pain from near-record diesel fuel prices looks set to hit at the worst possible time for them. The war in Iran, disruptions in Russian production and refining bottlenecks have sent the price of diesel fuel rising faster than that of gasoline or crude oil, and it's now grinding toward an all-time record just two months ahead of the midterms. That matters for Republicans in particular because diesel prices hit first " and hardest " in rural areas and affect blue-collar businesses like farming and trucking before spreading to suburban dinner tables and the rest of the economy.

MAGA Rep. Nancy Mace hurled an expletive Tuesday as she learned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bragged on live TV that he manipulated Donald Trump into attacking Iran. Viewers were left gasping as Netanyahu revealed he ran an "influence" campaign he claimed helped drag America into the widely unpopular war " that has now been going on for six months, has killed an estimated 18 Americans and left Trump's popularity ratings plummeting. Facing grim poll numbers ahead of October elections, Netanyahu sat down with Israeli network Channel 14 Sunday to make his case to voters. Speaking in Hebrew, he described decades of opposition to Iran and claimed it eventually paid off. "I've been against Iran for almost 40 years ... it took a long time to bring the United States to its senses," Netanyahu said in Hebrew, according to Zeteo's Prem Thakker.

Milo Yiannopoulos: "I didn't really understand the physical reality of how institutionalized the brutality is in America. The manner in which they arrest you, they put you in manacles... I was weeping like an old woman for an hour. I wouldn't wish it on anyone."

The standard explanation for why rain causes corrosion is that water carries dissolved salts and acids to a surface, constant drumming of raindrops abrades whatever protective coating is on it, and oxygen does the rest. Nearly all our tools to prevent this -- paints, polymer films, or oxide layers -- are built around this idea. But we've apparently been missing something important about the rain.

A senior prosecutor in New York Attorney General Letitia James' office has accused his superiors of wasting taxpayer money by targeting President Donald Trump and his allies without legitimate investigative grounds, according to the New York Post. Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld made the allegations in a weekend email sent to roughly 2,000 employees in James' office, arguing that its resources were being used to pursue "convenient public enemies" instead of crimes affecting New Yorkers.

When a leftist turns violent, Democratic politicians and their media allies offer a familiar response: yes, this is terrible, but right-wing violence is the greater threat. They have made that claim for decades, and it has always rested on a dubious premise. The premise depends on statistics compiled by advocacy groups that exclude a vast catalog of left-wing violence"from the George Floyd riots to murders committed by pro-Palestinian activists and attacks on synagogues, Catholic churches, Tesla dealerships, and ICE facilities. Meanwhile, conservatives are routinely held responsible for the actions of violent loners, drug dealers, and conspiracy theorists with no coherent political program. Deranged anti-Semites, racists, incels, and antigovernment extremists get classified as right-wing, even when their targets span both parties.
