US Says Maduro Lost Venezuela Election

Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State: "Given the overwhelming evidence, it is clear to the United States and, most importantly, to the Venezuelan people that Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia won the most votes in Venezuela's July 28 presidential election." Gonzalez's campaign workers said they went to each polling place and collected results, which they published online.

... "In addition, the United States rejects Maduro's unsubstantiated allegations against opposition leaders. Maduro and his representatives' threats to arrest opposition leaders, including Edmundo Gonzlez and Mara Corina Machado, are an undemocratic attempt to repress political participation and retain power," Blinken added.

Maduro's government has rejected the US statement as "ridiculous," with Venezuela's Foreign Minister Yvan Gil accusing the United States of attempting to orchestrate a coup. ...

OK, my first question is, if the US has evidence, where does it present that evidence?

As Venezuela courts chaos, some of Maduro's allies demand receipts of election win
www.cbc.ca

... Traditional allies appear to have abandoned Nicolas Maduro as protests rock Venezuela in the wake of Sunday's election, which the longtime president claims to have won with 51.2 per cent of the vote.

Maduro was quickly recognized as the winner by Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras and Bolivia, as well as Russia, China and Iran.

But he got no recognition from nominally left-wing governments in the region's biggest countries: Brazil, Mexico and Colombia.

"The heavy-hitting diplomatic players in the region have demanded proof [of his win]," said Christopher Hernandez-Roy of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.

"I think the three of them have realized that the level of fraud is just so astronomically huge that nobody in their right mind can believe this result, and so it would be very difficult for them to join the usual chorus of leftist governments congratulating Maduro for his victory."

The Atlanta-based Carter Center, which had deployed observers in Venezuela, said on Tuesday evening that the election "did not meet international standards of electoral integrity and cannot be considered democratic." ...

So, the autocratic countries seem to be endorsing the election results, but no one else?

We need unrest to increase the emigration of the desperate and fill the jobs no one wants to do.

Swing and a miss!

The Carter Center is not the CIA.

The Carter Center, one of the few independent institutions allowed to monitor the vote, said Tuesday that "Venezuela's electoral process did not meet international standards of electoral integrity at any of its stages and violated numerous provisions of its own national laws."

They should look at all elections that use proprietary computer tabulators and mail in ballots, and ballot harvesting and not just Venezela. All such elections are being spun and potentially corrupt.

Why does the US think it's their business telling Venezuela how to run their elections?

Does Venezuela tell us how to run ours?

Would we pay any attention if they did?

More Meddling. More Hubris.

Our own electoral process is very far from perfect.

Maduro ain't going anywhere.

If Venezuela or Iran or Russia or for that matter, if our allies in NATO, said the electoral college was anti democratic and all of the Republican presidents who won because of it, were illegitimate, would those Presidents be illegitimate?

Askin' for a Friend.

The first thing Maduro did before stealing the election was take firearms away from the people so they had no power. Why are we giving vote count control of elections to corporate thieves with an agenda. Kamala wants to make us powerless too and do the same thing. We are heading for bad times with socialist oligarchs and the world now recognizes it.
