Mass Deportation Will Drive Food Prices Higher

Trump's Immigration Policy Would Make Food Inflation Even Worse If the US were to deport the 1.7 million undocumented workers who help power its food system, trips to the supermarket will only get more expensive.

My question, at this point, is that Pres-elect has stated he will start mass deportations, moving swiftly after Inauguration Day.

Pres-elect Trump has said 11- to 21-million people need to be deported.

My first question is how does he expect to accomplish that? What is his planned procedure?

Are there enough law enforcement professionals in the Country to carry out that pledge as quickly as he seems to indicate he wants it to be accomplished?

And if law enforcement is so focused upon that task, what about there other routine tasks of protecting everyone else? Will a crime wave ensue?

The same way he built the Big Beautiful Wall the last time.

Half the farms in America hire undocumented workers.

Good job, righties. Open wide, cuz here it comes.

@#3 ... The same way he built the Big Beautiful Wall the last time. ...

Oh, you mean the wall that Mexico paid for?

Oh, you mean the wall that Mexico paid for?

That would be the one. Same with getting rid of inflation... he'll just say it's gone and that will be the end of it.

So Trump does have an innate ability like DeSantis to get stuff done. On the other hand Kamala and Biden would have spent all their pathetic efforts bringing more problems into the USA that needed more welfare, subsidies, sanctuary, educated, drugs and crime. Democrats should be assessed all the relevant costs. They caused it.

The thing about agricultural labor is that all of it could and would be mechanized if the producers had to actually pay full market price for labor. But they don't. Government subsidizes it instead of preventing illegal immigration. Big business is now owned by Democrats and they like the synergy of illegals and new voters. Or at least they did until Trump now gets more votes from working class than "highly educated but clueless Dem elites" get. College for many has become indoctrination on taxpayer dime and that will be corrected.

You're so clueless it's not even funny. Not everything can be mechanized. They still need actual people to pick crops feed the livestock and work in slaughterhouses. You need to educate yourself better before you opine.

"You need to educate yourself better before you opine."

Never happen Laura. He's in love with that box of rocks he carries around between his ears.

Not everything can be mechanized.

A lot of it already has been, and a lot of the mechanization has been automated. There just comes a point where it costs more to automate things than doing it by hand.

Your ignorance is showing. There are scant amount of lobbies in the Democratic party. Most are Moderate and Conservative. We liberals get relegated to second class status with both parties.

You betcha. Elections have consequences.

The food prices will be crazy but wait till you see housing prices. Woo Boy!

I saw someone arguing that getting rid of all the illegals will free up so many houses that it will bring housing prices down. Which is very slightly true in the short term but not to the extent that they were envisioning. Long term however we still have a structural shortage of housing that has only started getting better in the last couple years. If we have to slow building down due to the lack of labor it gets much worse again and very quickly. If we don't slow down but raise wages to attract more homegrown labor then the costs go up anyway.

Of course all that ignores what happens to the costs of housing if tariffs are added to imported building materials.

There will be as much "mass deportation" as there was "a wall".

I think you are right. I don't see how Lewzer makes any money by deporting people.

80% of likely voters in swing states liked Democratic nominee Kamala Harris' plan to ban price gouging,

anyone that believes the POTUS has the power to do this is just ignorant on how our Gov works. Banning price gouging would be something a Fasist would do

You realize that this describes the vast majority of what Trump claimed he was going to do, right?

Which is why it shows how unprincipled and devoid of values or integrity righties are. They'll either get what they want at the expense of everything they claim to believe, or they'll get none of it and are simply too stupid to think things through.
