Texas Education Board Backs Bible-Infused Lessons in Public Schools

School districts serving more than 2 million elementary-school children would be able to adopt a curriculum that draws on the Bible.

The constitution and first amendment are obviously meaningless to Christians.

Great! Let's start the learning with this banger:

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

"Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

"Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

"The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

"Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

"They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

"He will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
-Matthew 25:31-46

Followed by this charmer:

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
-Matthew 22:36-40

I suspect neither of these would ever be taught in public schools. Instead there will be lessons about not having sex with the livestock, avoiding unclean hands and random miracles performed like Jesus was a circus act...

If you think teaching the bible in class is good but giving poor kids baloney sandwiches for lunch is not, then you are not a christian.

I was hungry and you asked me to pass a drug test.

I was a stranger and you told me to go back to my own country.

I was sick and you asked me for health insurance card.

I was homeless and you told me to get a job you bum.

Wellllll every now and then a tax-exempt institution needs an infusion of government interference in order to survive.

All of these things can be taught in public schools.

Politics should be discussed in government and history class.

Discussions of sex should take place in a health class.

Discussions of religion should take place in religious studies class.

No one of these things should be a problem to discuss in a healthy society.

Unfortunately ... We are obviously not in one right now.

Leave all the latter-day Jesus bits out, it's derivative anyway. Go to the source: the Old Testamenty, Hebrew Bible stuff a friend once said should be retitled War Gods of Jerusalem.

There used to be Private Schools (and boy how the Christians fought for them) to be able to teach Sunday School instead of say Calc Physics to
adult children.

Then there used to be Home Schooling (and boy how the Christians fought for the right) to do the same.

Then the Private Schools got expensive.
Then the parents got too lazy to do Home School.

Now the Christians want to invade the Public Schools with their Dogma.

It seems that Christians are just never satisfied, unless they have it EXACTLY THEIR WAY.

Not necessarily. Not all "Homeschool" children are taught by a parent. My daughters both were considered homeschool even though they attended an online public school that was accredited and paid for by the State. Teachers were great and easy to communicate with. I didnt have to create a curriculum or grade papers, just provide support like parents do for a traditional school. The school sent us all books, a laptop for each student, and one printer. We didnt have to deal with bullies or bibles either. It was fantastic and they still had group events to meet up with other students in the same school and socialize.

'"Keep your sexual preferances out of the public schools. It has no place in them."

Scientists who have studied this tell us that sexual orientation is not a choice and is deteermined before a person attends school so gay people stay in your closets at home and don't try to get an education because if straight kids are around you they will catch the gay virus too, Folks like Gracie are afraid they might be susceptible to that virus. A little bird told me if you are afraid tou're susceptible then being a homophobe won't guarantee tou won't feel tempted.
