Colorado State Representative Tweets, Deletes Celebration Carter's Death

Colorado State Representative Matt Soper celebrated former Presidents Carter's death with the following post: "Opened a bottle of Champaigne tonight! The world is rid of a despot! Thank God he finally called Carter home! The worst president in the history of the U.S.! We are still recovering! He destroyed the U.S. in such a way that even the 4th generation is still suffering!"

While Soper later deleted the post, his true feelings have already been demonstrated. He should not be able to clean this up with a simple apology.

The unfortunate truth is, this will likely make him a hero to MAGA supporters.

Two "virtue" signals- one for the MAGA crowd and one for the Zs that helped pay for his seat in congress.

Clearly he has his priorities in place for future inclusion in the American political process.

I want to apologize for a Twitter/X post. It was tasteless, heartless, and I'm deeply sorry. I attempted to quickly delete the post, and issued an apology. I'm very sorry for the harassment followers, friends, colleagues have received as a result.

Today is New Years Day and the start of a new year. My vow to everyone is to be a better person. My commitment is less social media, including not returning to X. I actually know him personally. I'm pretty certain his original sentiment was his true self.
