While Soper later deleted the post, his true feelings have already been demonstrated. He should not be able to clean this up with a simple apology.

The unfortunate truth is, this will likely make him a hero to MAGA supporters.

"To all my followers, friends, colleagues:

I want to apologize for a Twitter/X post. It was tasteless, heartless, and I'm deeply sorry. I attempted to quickly delete the post, and issued an apology. I'm very sorry for the harassment followers, friends, colleagues have received as a result.

Today is New Years Day and the start of a new year. My vow to everyone is to be a better person. My commitment is less social media, including not returning to X. Praying more to be a better person each hour and each day. This was my greatest lapse in judgment and I cannot say how truly sorry I am."

I actually know him personally. I'm pretty certain his original sentiment was his true self.

I don't know if he was drunk or not. IMO that's not a legitimate excuse.

Decent people are usually still decent, even when they're drunk.
