That's a good point.

I am retired and while I dont feel the need to do anyone's bidding anymore then again I dont have to. Not everyone has that choice as you point out.

But then again I fought hard for and put up with a lot to hold on to my pension all while they tried to trick/con me out of it. Like they did to so many in my generation and after.

Personally I am with you. I cant understand either why anyone would put up with it a second longer than they have to if they could afford it. It probably has to do holding into power with the cost of losing seats at the table.

Now that the vote is so close every election.

When you get off the treadmill at retirement age, make sure you have something else to occupy your time. Those "golden years" ain't what they're cracked up to be after a few months of vegetation.

I, for one, am so busy now that I don't know when I found time to work. And none of my associates think of me as elderly.

Do something good for mankind so you can hold onto that feeling of gratification. Keep standing tall.

Yeah, retirement may not be all it is cranked up to be.

The sad part for me is that I can no longer endure working.

So I look to other endeavors.

When a person is accustomed to handling a lot of responsibility in their job, it's a big letdown after retiring when it all goes away and you're no longer the "it" person.

A lot of people get fat after retiring. So find something to do that keeps you out of the refrigerator.

IOW, steer clear of comfort foods.

And that goes for women, too. Being a mother is the hardest job in the world. 24/7/365 and you don't get paid vacations.

So when the kids leave the nest and you feel like nobody needs you anymore, slap yourself in the face if you evern think about comfort foods. If you tell yourself "this little bit won't hurt," you're lying.

Yeah, consider me one boomer who really, really wishes this country would have a time of rational leadership so some laws could be enacted that put an age limit on executive position jobs like President or member of Congress. You don't employ a 91 year old to fly an airliner, you don't employ that 91 year old to have the power to order nuclear strikes.
We live in terrifying times, no doubt about it.
