Rahm Emanuel: Democrats have become Ballotbox Poison

The Honeymooners." "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet." "Leave It to Beaver." In campaign ads and rhetorical flourishes, Democrats are prone to conjuring fuzzy images of married couples sitting at their kitchen table struggling to cover their monthly bills. "Kitchen table" issues remain, at least in my party's mind, shorthand for middle-class economic struggles. In real life, however, tight family budgets aren't the only challenges folks discuss in the kitchen. Democrats too often refuse to address anything beyond what they're comfortable discussing " and our obvious discomfort talking about those other worries makes voters very uncomfortable.

I'll just leave this here.

Rahm Emmanuel is a DINO Turd.

He has No Useful insights. Just the constant tendency to want the Democratic party to continue it's rightward tilt. Which is why they keep Losing.

Actually having liberal policies and not apologizing for it would be far more helpful. And Effective.

If people want Republican policy they will vote for the Real Thing, not watered down imitation.

Bad Advice from a Genocide enthusiast. Killing innocent people by proxy with American Arms and Cash is another reason the Dems are not an opposition party as much as Repuke Wannabes.

Bottom line, the "Centrist" Dems are not Helpful.

They are Pernicious.

Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign flipped the script. His agenda was, as everyone knows, about "the economy, stupid." But voters were open to his economic message because he refused to ignore the country's other kitchen-table priorities. Far from proposing to "defund the police," or referring to cops as "pigs," he responded to concerns about rising crime by promising to hire 100,000 police officers. Rather than ridiculing "just say no," he appointed Gen. Barry McCaffrey as the drug czar. And after years of America watching progressives sneer at law enforcement, he rebuffed Sister Souljah for celebrating race-based violence.

Barack Obama pressed repeatedly for responsible parenting despite the criticism it elicited, pointing out that it is easy to father a child but much harder to be a dad. He remained steadfast in expelling criminal aliens from the country despite protests labeling him the "deporter in chief." He understood that the groups demanding free health care at the border, like the people who would later push for labeling Hispanics "Latinx," weren't representative of mainstream America, including most Hispanics themselves.

Clinton and Obama, the only two Democratic presidents to be reelected since Franklin D. Roosevelt, took stances that were in the mainstream of political sentiment, and both were willing to confront allied interest groups demanding fidelity and orthodoxy to out-of-touch positions despite the attendant criticism. In demonstrating that strength, they made voters comfortable electing and returning them to the Oval Office.

Dems need to toss the dead weight under the bus. The sooner the better. We have more important issues to deal with as a nation than championing an infinite number of genders and figuring out how to make criminals more comfortable on the streets.

As opposed to Dems shooting themselves in the foot with the "defund the police" platitude, yes.

But, sure, Dems should double-down on what worked so well for them for the last couple elections. What's another twelve more years of GOP rule to quibble about?

#7 | Posted by censored at 2025-02-02 06:10 PM

Dems shooting themselves in the foot with the "defund the police"

Dems didn't champion "defund the police", just like democrats aren't for open borders.

You're just repeating Republican talking points. Like a good stooge.

Censored isn't MAGA and that's been made clear a long time ago. I would say Censored is a reasonable middle of the road Democrat who doesn't trust the Republican Party, but looks at the direction Democrats have been heading since Obama's admin and party stance on topics most of the public could care less about. Instead of reading the room, Democrats went full tilt on the topics Censored mentioned and alienated the crap out of people. Just my two cents anyways ...

Reasonable people don't Shill for Genocide. Censored is a violent moron.

American Imperialism in Europe and everywhere else is disgusting, and until Trump Turbocharged it, was Bipartisan.

Biden Tricking the Ukraine to commit Hari-kari for Western interests was typical.

I just hate to see America trick dumb people into fighting for our interest but then abandon them when they don't prevail.

Which is a very Old Story in American Foreign Policy.

Ukraine was a war that could have been prevented if more Reasonable people had been making policy.

Using the Ukrainian aspirations for engagement with the West to get them to fight a war they wouldn't win was Cynical and downright evil if you really think about it.

Half a million Dead.

For What?

They won't get any of the lost Oblasts back.

Their country has been pulverized and now it's all good cuz Russia got "Weakened" without any Western personnel getting Hurt.

"Article by Vladimir Putin "On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians"
July 12, 2021

During the recent Direct Line, when I was asked about Russian-Ukrainian relations, I said that Russians and Ukrainians were one people " a single whole.

These words were not driven by some short-term considerations or prompted by the current political context. It is what I have said on numerous occasions and what I firmly believe.

I therefore feel it necessary to explain my position in detail and share my assessments of today's situation."

#22 | Posted by Corky at 2025-02-02 07:30 PM

There really is no American parallel to the Ukraine Russia relationship.

Canada Maybe? Now Trump wants that.

He's a Putin wannabe without the Putin Gravitas.

He sees other Strongmen taking what they want. Even when it's clearly stupid.

Trump is Clearly Stupid. Putin isn't American and he doesn't make policy here.

Biden thought he could Outflex Putin and the Russians.

Clearly he misjudged the situation.

The Russians don't have to overrun Europe, they just have to Break the Ukraine and prevent NATO from expanding into it.

Which is mostly already done.

Dumb War, Not fought for the reasons most people here believe.

Putin could have avoided War too.

The Stupid ---- was Universal.

Security Arrangements and Ukrainian Neutrality would have gone a long way toward preventing it.

But then Russia wouldn't have been "Weakened".

So Military Defeat will compel Negotiations that should have been done without War.

This is a tweet by Colin Wright:

Everything the Democrats thought they believed in turned out to be deeply toxic and unpopular: DEI racism, radical gender ideology that
mutilates kids, censorship, and unchecked illegal immigration. Now, they face a dilemma. The Republicans have claimed the commonsense positions on all these issues. If Democrats attempt to pivot away from their unpopular stances, they're left with little to offer that doesn't already align with the Republican platform. Adopting Republican positions on these issues would require acknowledging that Republicans were right, which undermines their identity as the
opposition. In effect, the Democrats have boxed themselves in. Their self-inflicted ideological collapse has left them without a coherent alternative, and it
will likely take many years for them to recover.

1) The flights were not secret. Spare me the drama. A subpoena wasn't necessary. CBP releases updates regularly (monthly).
2) All the airports used were not disclosed for security reasons, which given how rabid MAGAts are, it 100% reasonable.
3) Biden didn't fly them in. The CPB approved which flights were authorized for migrants to use.
4) The migrants had to pay their own way.
5) The migrants had to have a financial sponsor in the United States.
6) The migrants had to book travel to specific airports.
7) None of the migrants are allowed to remain in the United States.
8) None of the migrants may seek citizenship in the United States.
9) They may persue getting a green card for termporary emnployment
10) None were allowed to vote,
11) This program was effective only for specific countries. Not just any nation, and not for just any reason.
12) Biden DID use his parole authority, as other presidents have done, to allow these specific migrants temporarily in under this program. Biden also did it to a higher level than most (maybe any?) other President.

There are multiple sources available for this information.
www.cbp.gov
apnews.com
etc.
There was no big super secret coverup or anything like it. All the information was in the public domain except the specific airports that migrants were flying into, which I already covered.

#52 | Posted by YAV at 2025-02-03 09:44 PM

You are getting into pedantics and that is fine.

But you are also not seeing the forest through the trees.

This wasn't a program that was legislated. It was created out of whole cloth by the Biden administration.

With a stroke of a pen, this administration deemed approximately 500,000 people suddenly eligible to enter, bypassing normal entry requirements, to just arrive here and immediately receive benefits.

Do we have any kind of transparency regarding the vetting process for these folks?

---------

"There was no big super secret coverup or anything like it."

I follow the news very closely. I saw very little reporting on this from mainstream sources and it was only after independent sources reported on it and cried foul. Then the mainstream sources acted as advocates for this administration.

This is yet another subset of an issue where Democrats have been way out of lock-step with the rest of the country.
