Trump Files Ludicrous Libel Suit Against New York Times

President Donald Trump announced Monday that he plans to file a $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit against The New York Times.

In a statement on Tuesday morning, a spokesperson for the Times said, "This lawsuit has no merit. It lacks any legitimate legal claims and instead is an attempt to stifle and discourage independent reporting. The New York Times will not be deterred by intimidation tactics. We will continue to pursue the facts without fear or favor and stand up for journalists' First Amendment right to ask questions on behalf of the American people."

How does one "defame" a thirty-four times convicted felon?

Ludicrous speed ahead!

And OneRunt was just quoting them as an unimpeachable source! This must be so confusing for him.

But I bet the NYT doesn't knuckle under. They've had some practice at this. They have tangled with folks way smarter than the F-Troop crew.

He waved presidential immunity, probably unintentionally. This could be a gold mine for the New York Times as they force him into a deposition. Trump mentioned Epstein so the NYT can force him to answer questions about that. Trump possibly gave the NYT a golden interview opportunity backed by the force of law.

Rcade better watch out...

Should be thrown out and he should pay any lawyers fees associated with defending against the clear abuse of the judicial system.

Trump controls the DOJ. So who's going to do anything about it?

A better question might be, when is his staff going to hide him in an undisclosed location strapped to a gurney while they prep his body double for a limited, very brief, schedule of appearance, preferably from a blurred distance?

"Trump controls the DOJ. So who's going to do anything about it?"

1) Trump is federal. Is the lawsuit state or federal court?

2) Damning if he won't stand for a lawful deposition no?

A man with skin thinner than single-ply toilet tissue. The judge should make Der Dotard appear in court with his attorneys, and then tell them what's what. And hold court on a weekend, to interrupt El Rey Dotardo II's golf game...

This has nothing to do with defamation, and everything to do with breaking the back of media that isn't towing the fascist line.

TACO.

Discovery will be a real ----- for Orange Adolf.
This will be dropped before it gets to trial.

Just another distraction from the Epstein files.

If we can ever get back to a sane government, one of the first laws to be passed is that the government (federal, state or municipal) should pay the legal fees plus a little extra of the defendant if the defendant prevails. This would prevent defendants from being intimidated by governments and forced to settle even though they are innocent.
