Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, March 12, 2024

Pundits may have fawned over President Biden's State of the Union address last Thursday, praising it as a "homerun" performance from a "fiery, powerful, vigorous guy" that would ease nagging fears about his age and vitality. But voters barely seem to have noticed. A new Yahoo News/YouGov survey of 1,482 U.S. adults, conducted in the days immediately following Biden's big speech, shows zero improvement in perceptions of the president " or in his standing against former President Donald Trump. Before the State of the Union, Trump (45%) and Biden (44%) were statistically tied in a head-to-head 2024 matchup, according to the previous Yahoo News/YouGov poll from late January. They remain tied today, with Trump at 46% and Biden at 44% " a gap that's well within the poll's margin of error (2.8%).

"... one issue on which those who watched or followed the speech were more likely to agree with what Biden said (46%) than disagree (36%): abortion."

Women have had a higher percentage of the vote than men for the last 40 something years.

Put that in your _____ and light it.

- someone just reporting a story.

Awww, poor innocent baby!

This is what tough Trumpers look like on the run.

And it will be women who chase them away and take away their toys.

Future VP Katie Britt certainly knocked it out of the park.

The boost that is the most important is the record haul in $$$$ Biden took in that night.

He will use it to beat dementia don back into obscurity with his own words in the fall.

Nixon, it's cute that you think money will save Biden. Just like it saved Hillary.

This, from a Katie Britt fan.

DANFORTH, please show me where I lauded Katie Britt. Because you're not going to find it on here but nice try.

" please show me where I lauded Katie Britt."

Who needs laud from loyal enablers? Your vote says it all.

I was just ribbing anyone who watched the pair of speeches, and concluded Biden will have no ultimate gain.

From the sub-headline in the cited article...

... but so far, Americans don't seem convinced by the president's energetic new pitch. ...

"So far."

Another view...

2024 General Election: Trump vs. Biden
www.realclearpolling.com

...
RCP Average 2/21 - 3/12
Trump: 47.2
Biden: 45.1

Trump +2.1
...

This far out from election, the individual polls don't matter as much as the trends.
