Ukrainian forces are withdrawing US-provided Abrams M1A1 main battle tanks from the front lines after at least five have been destroyed by cheap Russian drones, according to the AP. A loud cheer went up amongst Ukraine's support when the US announced in January 2023 it would deliver a battalion of Abrams tanks to Ukraine. The hope was that 31 US made tanks, which are far superior to the Russian T-72 tank that is in wide use by Russia's forces, would be a game changer.

Likewise, Germany sent about five squadrons of its equally powerful Leopard main battle tanks that have been equally disappointing. At least 11 of the 21 sent have been destroyed or damaged and taken out of action, Forbes reported in December. The majority of the Leopard 2A6 tanks sent to Ukraine by Germany are no longer functioning, a senior politician for the German Greens said in January.

Drones are the game-changer. Wonder if that laser-thingamabob the Brits are thinking about providing could help for tank defense: "New UK laser weapon could be used against Russian drones in Ukraine, British defense secretary says" www.msn.com. Probably not mobile enough.

Fighting the last war.

Wonder if the jet fuel is a logistical problem as well.

If I were a betting man, Russia is getting better at the next war and China is watching.

Russia couldnt be doing a worse job. They've lost 315,000 men and their military has been set back 18 years.

They could be doing a worse job. They're still going forward.

But ukrainian logistics officer in 2023 and 2024 might be the worst military speciality since ww2.

The Patriots will burn just as readily as the tanks did.

Lol.

The Patriot batteries are exceeding expectations. Ask the Russian Mainstay fleet.

Ukraine is destroying T-72s with store-bought suicide drones with bombs taped to them, mines, and NATO supplied artillery, they just need more shells. From what I've read and videos I've seen, it's taking about three drone strikes to completely destroy the T-72s. So Ukraine, with an investment of about $200 per attack, is wiping out $2 million dollar tanks. I have a feeling people buying military hardware from Russia might be having second thoughts.

Not from what I've read and seen. The Russian armor is stymied by open spaces that let the Ukrainian drone brigades attack them with their cheap drones with bombs taped to them. Three strikes and there goes another $2 million T-72. The Ukrainian drones are also killing hundreds of Russians in the trenches. The incomming artillery shells and ATACMS will help turn the tide. How many dead Russians will be enough for the bald dwarf, because by the end of summer it'll be well over half a million.

Then your sources suck. The line creeps forward in key areas.

When these tanks were designed, the notion of a $1500 drone with explosives taped to it was not imagined.

Russian armor and soldiers are falling prey to the same tactic being carried out by Ukraine.

The style and composition of warhead the drones mostly carry debuted in 1958.

The Ukraine 47th Mech had chimed in to say this is propaganda nonsense, they are in the field fighting in Abrams.
