Vets Booted From GQP Event For Asking To Condemn Violence

Several veterans and military families appear to have been kicked out of the North Carolina Republican Party convention in Greensboro after trying to get attendees to commit to a pledge that would condemn violence incited by former President Donald Trump and respect the peaceful transfer of power, according to footage released on social media. We went to the @NCGOP's convention with a demand that they pledge to honor the election and support a peaceful transfer of power," they wrote. "They didn't want to hear from us. They haven't signed that pledge. Until they do, their leadership and their nominees are unfit to lead."

An apolitical and non-partisan military is essential to our democratic foundations and is central to American military professionalism," said the letter. "We, the signatories, range the political spectrum. Without regard to partisan issues or disputes, we are simply seeking to address Trump's lack of character and the dangers he presents to our republic."

"I am not a 'sucker' for having served," the letter continued. "My friends who lost their lives in service to this country were not 'losers.' I will not vote for a person who says otherwise. Donald Trump is not fit to be President. I pledge not to vote for him and urge my fellow veterans to do the same."
