Gaza's Doctors Face a New Battle: The War on Polio

AP: August 25, 2024 - Trucks deliver thousands of vials of polio vaccine into the Gaza Strip.

|------- The Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) issued a statement that 25,100 vials of polio vaccine, delivered into the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom Crossing on Sunday, are sufficient to vaccinate 1,255,000 people.

COGAT further noted that five trucks containing special refrigeration equipment for the transfer and depository of vaccines crossed into Gaza on Friday. WHO and UNICEF say their vaccination campaign will be carried out in every municipality in Gaza, with help from 2,700 workers.

According to COGAT, 282,126 vials of polio vaccine had been transferred to Gaza since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war, and that nearly 90 percent of Gaza population have been vaccinated against polio.
