Politicians are no more qualified than a janitor is to decide which books are "age appropriate ".
Neither are judges.
Neither are the hoi polloi as their opinions can change with the winds.

Being an atheist, I may be a little biased, but book one on the banned list, if one is to have such a list, would have to be the Bible, with its first half, the Old Testament. Make an honest movie of that book, it would be banned across the globe, thanks to its cheering on slavery, mass murder, rape, pillage, and the like. Let schools run their own libraries. Overwhelmingly, the educated vote against the far right, so of course they go after schools and colleges.

H.L. Mencken was arrested on Boston Common for selling a magazine that had been banned by the New England Watch and Ward Society, the city's self-appointed moral censors.

This is true but I am not sure it supports anything you have said.
It proves we have already been here before and we are NOT GOING BACK.
Mencken was acquitted of any charges and released.
Banned in Boston later became a selling point for books. Much like being Banned in Florida will be today.
1922 Mencken once declared, "I am, in brief, a libertarian of the most extreme variety, and know of no human right that is one-tenth as valuable as the simple right to utter what seems (at the moment) to be the truth."

I wonder if these publishers were among the publishers who vowed to never publish a book about Trump's presidency? Remember that? No? Didn't think so.

Speaking of "self-appointed moral censors" ...
Can you share with us a link to the source where you can show that "graphic ------" is actually "being peddled to underage children"?
Please do not post a link to your butt. Where you seem to get most of your nonsense.
Thanks.

Maybe nobody remembers it because it didn't actually happen?

I knew it wouldn't age well for you. I also see you framed your response as a question, which tells me you're really good at playing dumb.

"I knew it wouldn't age well for you. I also see you framed your response as a question, which tells me you're really good at playing dumb."
And I knew it would draw you out. I just wanted you to post your sources.
Because I had already checked to see if my memory was correct.
And was. No publisher ever vowed any such thing.
You said and I quote:
"publishers who vowed to never publish a book about Trump's presidency"
Please show in any of your links where a PUBLISHER vowed to "never publish a book about Trumpy's presidency.

"Hundreds in publishing sign letter objecting to book deals for the Trump administration"
You're welcome. Just because they didn't do it doesn't mean they did attempt to sway publishers away from a Trump book deal. And they did it at a time when social media was censoring millions and the FBI had field offices in their places of business. Back then I was telling you to be very careful about siding with people wielding a sword at the 1st amendment, and here we are. Middle finger to you, commie.

Re 15
I could have known it was a lie without looking it up.
First it was coming from you so was it was just a high probability it was a lie.
Second publishing is a for profit business. And if there was the possibility of huge profits involved then a for profit businesses would never say never. The fact is publishers WERE concerned about being able to verify trumps many known lies because the AUTHOR is normally responsible for the veracity of the book.
And if the book turned out to be a sack of lies and lost money as it most likely would because the many ventures of Trumpy seem often doomed to failure how would they get their (which would surely be a large) advance back?

That was a letter from agents and authors etc. That is not the same as the Publisher. No publisher vowed to not publish a Trump presidency book.
You lied.
So.
Middle finger to you, Liar.

"be very careful about siding with people wielding a sword at the 1st amendment ... "
The American People and the U.S. Supreme Court have been whacking at (interpreting and reinterpreting) the 1st amendment since at least 1925.
