Doctors Grapple with how to Save Women's Lives in Louisiana
When a woman starts bleeding out after labor, every second matters. But soon, under a new state law, Louisiana doctors might not be able to quickly access one of the most widely used life-saving medications for postpartum hemorrhage.

The Louisiana Illuminator spoke with several doctors across the state that voiced extreme concern about how the rescheduling of misoprostol as a controlled dangerous substance will impact inpatient care at hospitals. Misoprostol is prescribed in a number of medical scenarios--it's an essential part of reproductive health care that can be used during emergencies, as well as for miscarriage treatment, labor induction, or intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. But because it is used for abortion, misoprostol has been targeted by conservatives in Louisiana--an unprecedented move for a medication that routinely saves lives. A controlled dangerous substance has extra barriers for access, which can delay care.

Dangerous? Haven't heard of anyone OD'ing or addicted to misoprostol. Inappropriate use of the classification system to make political points.

I'm afraid that if my daughter did die due to the unavailability of this drug the ideological murderers who felt that aderance to their ideological purity was more important than my daughter's life should probably find a good plsce to hide and stay there permanently because...well ... because it would be a good idea.

It's not about pro life.
It's not about kids.
It's not about babies.
It's not about families.
It is solely to control women. Period.
Pro life would be 25 Sandy Hook kids in college today.
Pro life would be Uvlade kids starting middle school.
Pro life would mean providing child health care.
Pro life would mean good and free schooling.
Pro life would mean school lunches.

"The prochoice side often wonders - often with breathtaking naivety - why those opposed to abortion want to also cut back on the use of protection that can suppress said abortions. That is because abortion reduction is not the real point, lifestyle alternation is. Get that? That women will be injured and killed by unsafe outlaw abortions and by forced pregnancies is not a great concern of the birth forcers - those wayward women should have known better than to get pregnant out of wedlock in the first place, and if raped oh well, the growing soul inside them takes priority to its reproductive vessel who needs to understand their Godly prolife duty. If a woman who would have gotten a legal termination if she could because it is safer than not having one happens to die from what seemed like a normal pregnancy oh well that's too bad, it's God's Will anyhow, and if she was right with Christ she is in a better place so what is the big problem. The wastage of pregnant women is well worth the glorious aims of the prolifers.

This is the Republican version of "Government run health care" and the tragic results of their power grab over women and their doctors.

"Inappropriate use of the classification system to make political h can cost $260,00 thereby making it cheaper to buy hh Like marijauna still classified as Schedule 1. It is well known that marijauna was outlawed in the United States so that it could be used as a weapon against Mexicans in border states and later against hippies and Vietnam War protesters. The War on Drugs has been used as a political weapon since it was declared by Nixon. This year here in Florida we have a Constiyuyional Amendment on the ballot which is wxpecte to pass but our governor will fight it claiming that the legalizatiion of medical marijauna makes iy unnecessary. I've been to medical maeijuana dispensaries and they are bothing but a gimick to allow selected entrepreneurs to have a monopoly on sales. They all require expensive registration fees and a pretend wxamination by a doctor which cancost $260.00 which makes it cheaper to get on the street. I'm quite sure the medical marijuana industry is very upset that their cash cow is going to be eliminated but, personally, I can't wait for recreational marijuana to finally be a reality in this backward state.

Best an d probably the only way to save women's lives in Louisiana and some other red states is to ask youself what is more important? Party or even Trump loyalty or women's lives? If you choose women's lives then vyote for someone who believes women and their doctors should be making their healthcare decisions; not some religious nut job or some politician pandering to the religious right or anyone else! If that means voting for Kamala Harris then hold your nose and vote for Kamala Harris or vote for the orger side and be responsible for taking life and death decisions away from the women those decisions will effect and give them to some politician who has nothing to do with saving women's lives. It's really a matter of what is really most important, not just to you, but also for that woman who might die without the proper medical care which some states have actually outlawed. The deaths of women in your state and in other states is your responsibility even if it involves voting against your party or even the MAGA candidate.
