Sometimes I wonder if the eschewing of background checks is intentional by the Trump transition team.

Without the background checks, the resulting discussions on the nominees then tend to be more about the nominees' backgrounds, and not the policies they might implement.

A calculated distraction?

Hmmm, Democrats who pushed the appointment of Sam Brinton who was arrested for stealing woman's luggage are freaking out over GOP picks. How about just STFU up. The adults are in charge now.

OK, pulling this thread back on topic...

... Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., a prominent ally of Donald Trump, said voters don't care who conducts background checks into the president-elect's Cabinet picks and that Trump would fire members of his administration who don't follow the policy he sets out. ...

I have two questions...

1) why does Sen Hagerty seem to say that voters don't care about the ethics of those who directly serve the President?

2) ... that Trump would fire members of his administration who don't follow the policy he sets out. ... So Sen Hagerty seems to be espousing an unfettered fealty to Pres-elect Trump and not to the Constitution?

I remember ,morons, including FishPaw using the exact same words about "the adults are in charge now," when Bush was starting the totally unnecessary and costly Iraq invasion. zso Fish, what good did the "adults" accomplish the last time they gained power? I would have thought you would have found a new phrase other than "the adult their beliefs that the rich should be in vharge no matter how much incompetence they have shownds are in charge," after the realities of that invasion demonstrated. For me, there is no one I trust less to have good judge, ent than thos you refer to as the "adults." I think I would replace "sdults" with "angry spoiled children." Not so surprisinf bot Bus and Trump were born milliionaires who never served in combat. Coincidence? No, it's the Republican Party's trndency towards oligarchy surprisingly, just like Russia.
