The binge-eating man dramatically increased his food intake over a period of three months in hopes of hitting a body mass index (BMI) high enough to be categorised as fit only for non-combat roles.

It's 71% that are ineligible to serve in the US. Of that 71%, 31% are obese. The rest have health problems, drug problems, criminal records, dependents, or can't read.

We have the luxury of not really being at war. Once you need fodder, criminal records and can't read go first, then those with drug and health problems, then those with dependents.
