Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Beneath the folds of each of our two political parties, a hidden party struggles to emerge. It's not the woke Democratic Party of open borders and Saint Jussie Smollett, and it's not the Make America Great Again GOP of the January 6 rioters and Matt Gaetz. It's the Make America Normal Again party. MANA

The dems don't have to make any substantive changes in their policy positions. What they do need to do better, much much better, is to let people know how dependent they are on democratic policies and how republican policies will hurt them. Just as Trump had his name printed on each stimulus check, Biden should have done the same. Every road, bridge, etc. that was built, maintained by Biden should have had his name on it. Every person getting a on insulin should have gotten a letter from Biden stating that it was his policies that made that happen. Every ribbon cutting that a republican not voting for infrastructure funding attended should have been accompanied by a democratic candidate explaining to the press and people in attendance that the republican did not vote for the funding.

It's not the woke Democratic Party of open borders and Saint Jussie Smollett,

What's the point of pretending this article has any merit when it starts on this bogus premise that the Democratic Party is pro open boarders or ever gave a damn about Jussie Smollett?

Couldn't agree more.

Democrats are abysmal at messaging.

They constantly get steamrolled by republicans.

The coming struggle for the soul of the Democratic Party

Do the Repubs have a soul left? After they supported the guy who has five children from three different women, committed rape, adultery, convicted of 34 felonies, lead an insurrection, can't open his mouth without lying (Haitians eating dogs, losing an election, and so on) .... etc?

Sure! How does having no soul prevent one from winning?

In fact, lack of soul might be one of the reasons that the GOP does so well. Working their willingly duped and cowardly base into a froth over threats, imaginary and real (the Red Scare, welfare queens, the gheys, trans hiding in their toilets).

Here's some completely unrelated reading for you:

How Hitler Used Democracy to Take Power
Adolf Hitler never won a majority in a free and open national election. He never received more than 37% of the vote in a free and open national election, but he argued that 37% represented 75% of 51%, and demanded political power. It was the political calculus by which the Nazi leader disabled, then dismantled, the Weimar Republic. Hitler exploited his 37% to gridlock legislative processes, to cudgel or crush the political opposition, and ultimately to undermine the country's democratic structures. When Hitler had vowed in court, in September 1930, to destroy democracy through the democratic process, a judge asked, "So, only through constitutional means?" Hitler replied crisply, "Jawohl."

Hitler ran the Third Reich, Donnie runs the soon to be Forth Reich.

It's the last one, btw.

That Time article is a classic one to most people who know their political history.

" Working their willingly duped and cowardly base into a froth over threats"

That's exactly the type of messaging that drives people away from th3 Democratic Party. It's every bit as insulting as Democrats keep black people on their plantation. The underlying premise is black people cant think for themselves. It's that kind of messaging that contributes to the GOP getting such a paltry portion of the black vote.

You think I give a flying fudge about their feelings? They sold the country out to thieves and scoundrels based on their feelings time and time again.

As I've heard from the GOP 2016-2020 and will likely hear from them for the foreseeable future "Eff their feelings." Good enough for the geese, good enough for the gander.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.
H. L. Mencken
I hope the Trump supporters get all the democracy they can handle and then some. Good and hard.

Um, Heffyetta, the reason those two things are not the same is that when applied to Trumpers, what he said is absolutely correct.

When it is applied to Blacks it is non-factual.

Which... and I know facts are pretty foreign to Trumpers, and not really necessary if you own enough media... but they are still facts.

It is not messaging that contributes to the GOP getting such a paltry portion of the black vote. Messaging is certainly a part of it (i.e. Willie Horton, etc.) but it extends into policies as well i.e. lack of support for the VRA, reflexive support for police accused of assaulting unarmed black folk, using gerrymandering to deprive black folks of adequate representation, lack of support for reasonable gun controls, etc.
