It's now less than a week before Donald Trump is sworn in for his second term, and every sign out there is pointing toward him using the power of the presidency in ways no one else has before him. And this isn't simply conjecture.

Trump has been telling us exactly what he intends to do for well over a year now. Remember how in late 2023, Trump told Sean Hannity that he would only be a dictator on day one? Well, that's not exactly the question Hannity asked. Listen to that exchange again.

So, the question Hannity asked was actually about whether Trump would promise the American people to not abuse power in order to seek retribution, and Trump's answer was that he would only do that on day one.

I live at the edge of the DC area, and the newsradio station this morning was talking with a homeland security person about the inauguration. Said that any group generally generates enough chatter for them to be on law enforcement radar, but it's the truly lone wolf they worry about -- and that there will be plenty of visible and not visible forms of police presence to keep chances of harm down.

Keep this in mind when crowd size numbers come in.

Another thing to keep in mind ...

The nominee for leading the Department of Defense avoided answering the simple question of whether he would use the US military upon civilians who were protesting.

It was a simple question, and he seemed to refuse to answer it.
