President Donald Trump's tariffs against Canada and Mexico will threaten production at automakers across North America and send record vehicle prices even higher, with about a quarter of a trillion dollars in trade set to be disrupted. ... At the consumer end of the supply chain, the average price of a new car may climb by about $3,000, Wolfe Research analysts have said, further straining affordability with prices already close to all-time highs.

"The auto sector is going to shut down within a week," said Flavio Volpe, president of Canada's Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association. "At 25%, absolutely nobody in our business is profitable by a long shot."

In Trump world, there is no win-win in any negotiation. Furthermore, there is never an end to negotiations. These tariffs are the opening gambit in the renegotiation of the North American trade deal between the US, Canada and Mexico. Leaders of Mexico and Canada need to recognize this and respond in kind; maybe even upping the ante. Tell business in their countries to remove US made goods from their shelves. Use Trump's words against him: tell US companies to build factories in their countries if they want to sell to Canadian and Mexican citizens. Finally, openly court trade relationships with European and Asia suppliers and each other.

MAGA is too stupid to know that they are stupid.

Maybe they'll have this vague sense that something is going wrong...

Then they'll go back to finding that migrant under their beds.

He won't be there. Again.

We all know how this will end up.

MAGA will be reduced to selling fentanyl to one another in order to survive.

Wait. King Dotard I declared that USMCA was the greatest trade agreement ever. Now he wants to renegotiate? What went wrong? Or does he want to has out the greatester trade agreement ever? Dotard II clearly is a guy not taking 'Yes' for an answer. He clearly must win everything, from his morning defecation to his golf game to world domination.

At this point the best we can hope for is a heart attack--for him or us...

Hey red states....enjoy.

Canada sells us 70% of our lumber.

Canada sells us 60% of our oil.

Canada just pulled all liquor produced in red states off the shevles.

"Walking around a B.C. liquor store in Vancouver on Sunday afternoon, it's easy to notice many shelves are left empty with signs reading "Buy Canadian Instead" sitting on these lone shelves, reminding people about the ongoing trade war with the closest neighbour.

Eby is pulling popular "red-state" American booze, including Jack Daniels whiskey and Bacardi rum, from the shelves in response to the U.S. imposing 25 per cent tariffs on most Canadian imports starting Tuesday."

"Every year, LCBO sells nearly $1 billion worth of American wine, beer, spirits and seltzers. Not anymore," Ford said. "There's never been a better time to choose an amazing Ontario-made or Canadian-made product."
