NYS Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs bleated that he would not support Zohran Mamdani, his party's nominee for mayor of NYC. Jacobs whined about fundamental disagreements over Israel and democratic socialism. The position puts Jay Jacobs directly at odds with both NYC Democratic primary voters and Gov. Kathy Hochul, his de facto boss, who endorsed Mr. Mamdani. The amiable Zohran Mamdani continues to hold a commanding 21-point lead in the mayoral race, fueled partly by a growing black base. If the venal Eric Adama were to drop out of the race, Mamdani's lead among likely voters holds at 16 points. Zohran would receive 46% of likely voters' support compared with 30% for AIPAC mercenary Andrew Cuomo and 18% for Republican empty suit Curtis Sliwa. At least 20% of NYC Jews back Zohran and his BDS stance on Israel, as well as his agenda for affordable housing. Note that Jay Jacobs blogs on the Times of Israel website.
