"Starting 1 July, ICE is reverting to 72 days of instruction at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia, scrapping a 42-day accelerated program implemented last fall. The change is taking place because the agency has completed a hiring surge that more than doubled the number of immigration officers to 22,000."

"ICE had eliminated 240 hours of "vital classes" from a mandatory 580-hour training program, including instruction about the legal boundaries for the use of force, how to safely handle firearms, and the proper way to detain and arrest immigrants."

Now like the FBI, there will be a medley of investigators with different levels of training in ICE. New FBI S/As who completed the abbreviated eight-week course and may not have a college degree are working alongside S/As with law or accounting degrees who graduated the rigorous 16-week academy at Quantico, VA.

There is no "fixing" or "reforming" DHS and ICE other than dismantling them altogether starting on 20 Jan 2029 and restoring INS to strictly deal with migrants who will bring them before Immigration Judges (IJs) for due process and not hasty deportations.
