Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Soundtracks were a great way to discover bands before the Internet took over. We would hear a track or two in a movie, go buy the album, and share/copy with friends. Then we'd get curious about a particular band and set out to find more of their music. Sharing and enjoying music was a more tactile social experience compared to today's passive playlist sharing. That said, care to share a soundtrack or two that you really enjoy(ed)?

I'll start with The Crow. The movie itself is whatever, but this really is a monster of a soundtrack. Burn is one of my favorite Cure songs, Nine Inch Nails' Joy Division cover is fantastic, Big Empty is my favorite by Stone Temple Pilots, plus tracks by Vilent Femmes, Rollins, Helmet, Pantera, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. A friend just reminded me of this album and I put it on, it still holds up for me to this day.
