They are expecting snow tomorrow on Long Island, enough that it could really effect turnout. It's anybody's guess how this special election will turn out.

We don't need anymore IDF soldiers and Zionist operatives in American congress.

@#1 ... They are expecting snow tomorrow on Long Island, enough that it could really effect turnout. ...

Supposedly the heaviest snow in two years.

The political ads for this election on NYC TV have been brutal, with the GOP ads particularly viscous. (aside: likely a preview of the type of ads we all will be subject to later on in the year...)

The district is NYC's wealthiest suburb, according to one report I heard.

All that snow... must be a Democrat conspiracy to lower the number of GOP voters. (We all know they are mostly over the hill and can't go out in inclement weather.)

So far so good for Suozzi in the Queens portion of the district, which is the smaller portion:

Aaron Blake
@AaronBlake
George Santos lost the Queens portion of his district by 4 points in 2022.

Mazi Pilip is losing it by 26 points with 83% of the vote in.

I would be hesitant to extrapolate too many conclusions, if any, from this election. It is NY. It is in the aftermath of the GS Freak Show. It only has bearing in so far as the House is so evenly divided.

@#7 ... It is NY. ...

This particular House district is interesting.

It seems to be composed of a the residences of many of NYC law enforcement officers.

I have also seen it reported that this district is the wealthiest suburb of NYC.

New York's 3rd congressional district
en.wikipedia.org

... NY-03 is the wealthiest congressional district in New York, and in 2022, was the fourth-wealthiest nationally.[6] ...

AP checkmark is in for Suozzi. Democrats pick up a seat and will have 214 to Republicans' 219 (2 GOP vacancies). Democrats need to flip 4 seats this fall to retake the majority.

I see this...

Tom Suozzi beats Mazi Melesa Pilip in special election for George Santos' House seat
www.nydailynews.com

... Candidate votes pct.
Thomas Suozzi - Dem - 55,154 58.7%
Mazi Pilip - GOP - 38,843 41.3%
...

At the nonce...

58% vs 41%

in NY's 3rd Congressional District.

Let me repeat that...

in NY's 3rd Congressional District.

Oh, if I may say, that I currently hold the opinion that the GOP may have a concern here.

But, let's wait for the final election results.

Did the Democrats just pick up another House seat?

Indeed they did, and not by a little bit - but a veritable landslide for this area.

It's going to end up being a 20+ point swing from the last election, Republican to Democrat.

#14 | Posted by YAV at 2024-02-13 10:57 PM | Reply

OK, not a 20+ point swing from Santos (R) to Suozz (D), but still quite a swing!

What the voters are saying is that competent stable and bipartisan representatives are much preferable than firebomb throwing magat insurrectionists who are incapable of working for the people and instead engage in endless political theatrics.

The GQP has nothing of substance to offer the public.

They want to repeal social security and medicare and let Putin invade Europe.

They make the border their only issue and then vote against anything that would help fix the border.

They are not a serious about governing America and only serve the insane whims of dementia don.

America rejected dementia don by 7,000,000 votes in 2020 and he chose violence to try to hang onto power like some third world dictator.
