Republicans facing the possibility of abortion becoming an election issue.

So, what do they do?

Change their positions.

This is interesting...

An abortion rights initiative in South Dakota receives enough signatures to make the ballot
abcnews.go.com

... Supporters of a South Dakota abortion rights initiative submitted far more signatures than required Wednesday to make the ballot this fall. But its outcome is unclear in the conservative state, where Republican lawmakers strongly oppose the measure and a major abortion rights advocate doesn't support it. ...

"So, what do they do?
Change their positions."

They can't. Their positions are already know, and votes they lose over abortion won't all come back with a simple flip-flop.

Republicans have made it clear they don't "get it" on women's issue. They see the adverse affects of their anti-choice laws and still support them.

Every time a Republican man opens his mouth to talk about rape, something from 1850 comes out, and it makes the national news.

Alito found a way to codify all that backwards thinking into law.

If Trump flips on abortion, that might be a good way for him to win. Trump voters are stupid enough to believe Trump, and stupid enough to believe Trump has the power to undo a Supreme Court opinion, which he does not.

So, what does the apparent leader of the Republican Party have to say about abortion?

Trump abortion timeline: Tracking his shifting views on the procedure (April 4, 2024)
www.axios.com

... Former President Donald Trump on Monday formally announced his position on abortion rights, saying the issue should be left up to states to decide.

Why it matters: The announcement contrasts Trump's earlier hints that he would support a national abortion ban and risks angering anti-abortion rights groups who favor restrictions on the national level. ...

Trump's views before getting elected to office

In the years before he entered politics and throughout his 2016 campaign, Trump voiced an array of often contradicting positions on abortion.

- - - Back in 1999, Trump told NBC News that he was "very pro-choice" though he caveated, "I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it ... I just believe in choice." ...

I close my eyes to worldly skies
I leave behind the day
And deep within me, Ishallbegin
To chase mythoughts away
As loved ones hold meto their sides
Their strength flows into me
To cast me outofsorrow'sblindness
Into eternity

I thoughtI heard themsoftly calling
The voices of the spheres
As light years flash forever falling
Away from waking fears
I reach out, try to touch the passing
Of beings bathed in light
But they just smile, their eyes not asking

We have six months to go until the November 5, 2024 election, plenty of time for the Republican Party to show us just who they are and what they stand for, and whose ring they kiss or what Trump lie they endorse. Not sure why anyone would vote for someone who says that the free and fair election of 2020 was stolen, because that means they themselves are against our rule of law, one person, one vote, democracy.

The evangelicals must be thoroughly confused.

The GOP has really painted themselves into a corner. So many of them claimed to be prolife for so long and now when the rubber meets the road they are embracing prochoice positions. Let's see if their evangelical base holds them accountable for their new found support of abortion rights.

#11 My opinion is that once the election is over, they will move as fast as their little feet can move to ban abortion.

Re 12
Assuming they win. If they lose they will be busy claiming that the elections were rigged.
