... According to CNN pollster Harry Enten, Trump's disapproval rating is currently at a similar level to November 2018, when the Republicans lost the House in the midterms and the Democrats gained 41 seats. At the time, 42 percent disapproved of Trump's job performance, according to Enten's analysis.

Now, that number stands at 43 percent. According to Enten, that could be a bad sign for Trump, who is still more than a year away from the next round of midterm elections.

Trump began his second term with relatively strong approval ratings. Polls showed that he was more popular than ever. But in the last month, that popularity has begun to unravel as polls have shown that voters are dissatisfied with his handling of the economy. ...

Trump Lays Out Economic Plan " Everything From Cutting Taxes, Paying Off the Debt to 'rill, Baby Drill' (August 2024)
www.usnews.com

... The former president promised that inflation would go away and taxes would fall, while energy and electricity costs would be cut in half.

Donald Trump laid out a promise of a broad economic agenda that included drilling for more American energy, lowering taxes, eliminating inflation, sending migrants back home, saving Social Security and Medicare, and keeping the U.S. out of World War Three.

In what was billed as a serious discussion of economic policy, Trump focused heavily on inflation and the higher cost of living that has ensued during the past three years. And he laid the blame for that squarely at the feet of Vice President Kamala Harris.

"We will drive prices down and make America affordable again," Trump said to a full crowd of about 2,500 at an indoor arena in Asheville, North Carolina.

Trump served up a smorgasbord of red meat to the friendly audience " from promising to "drill, baby drill" and increase U.S. energy production that is already at record levels to cutting government regulations and removing taxes on tips and Social Security.

He even promised to pay off the national debt, now running at $35 trillion and to which he added nearly $8 trillion while he was president. But he honed in on inflation and talked about it in simple terms, while laying the blame on President Joe Biden and Harris.

"A lot of people are devastated by this economy," he said. "Our country has become a third world nation ... a banana republic in so many ways." ...

COVID caused inflation. The U.S. fared better than every other country in the developed world.

Blaming it on Biden and Harris is merely another lie to add to the tens of thousands of Trump's documented lies.

I'm fine with agreeing Biden's $1,400 meant we put back more into the economy than Covid had taken out. And I'll agree that was a large part of the fuel for the inflation.

That is, as long as everyone agrees Trump's proposal of a 42% LARGER stimulus would've been EVEN MORE inflationary.

You know...math, and all.

They were - the people were bussed in like a Kamala rally. That is why you couldn't find anyone under 50 in the crowd.

this clod thinks the rallies last week were all fake and paid for by Soros.

He's nothing more than a Trumper who repeats MAGA talking points and vents his frustration about his inadequacies here on the DR.

He's mostly hunger for attention.

Keep putting up the 'good' fight for your party of -------- with under 27% approval. Maybe if Soros ups the pay, you may be able to get someone under 40 at your next protest.
