Multiple analyses I've read point to Trump replacing Powell with a lacky as the tipping point where we will truly fall into Banana Republic status and the economy will begin to crumble.

Don't worry, though, I'm sure the courts will release sternly worded letters telling the administration they can't physically remove Powell and cut off his access while DOGE minions move in.

I had read an article about how Trump wants to get his hands on the federal reserve.

Bottom line was, it's really going to fkkk up the dollar.

I said in an earlier thread on the back page...

Pres Trump seems to know that his whimsical tariff approach is having a bad effect upon the economy. Trying to deflect away from that, he has turned to attacking Fed Chair Powell about not lowering interest rates.

As of April 23, the fat orange etc. has backed off. I suspect he got as stern a talking to as could be given, by Bessent and a number of CEO types all of whom said doing so would crash the capital markets in the US. A Trump toady as a replacement would have caused widespread panic and perhaps a depression, with Trump to blame. Almost all MAGA politicians would have disappeared, burning their long red ties along the way ...
