Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, June 21, 2025

DHS informs: Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has seen a roughly 830% increase in seizures of Chinese-made signal jammers since 2021. Signal jammers can be used to disrupt a range of radio frequency channels, and pose a threat to emergency response, law enforcement, aviation, and critical infrastructure. Criminals allegedly jammed calls to local police during home invasions or bank robberies in Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia. Federal law already prohibits the private import, operation, marketing, or sale of any signal jamming equipment that interferes with law enforcement communications, GPS, or radar. Signal jammers are banned in Beijing for public use. If you Google "signal jammer," you will be lost in a forest of these Chinese-made devices.

Jammers can also scramble surveillance footage in banks, hotels, restaurants, and government facilities. Humans are now exposed to electromagnetic fields (EMF) and radiofrequency (RF) radiation at unprecedented levels. The FCC admits no 5G safety studies have been conducted or funded by the agency or telecom industry, and that none are planned. Excessive exposures to cellphones and Wi-Fi networks have been linked to chronic diseases such as cardiac arrhythmias, anxiety, depression, autism, Alzheimer's and infertility. Is this a new issue, or just an issue because the Chinese now seem to be providing cheap jammers?

I ask, because back in the 1980's I used to listen to radio communications. My equipment had the ability to receive radio communications from 0.03MHZ up through 2GHz. Yeah, so little time, so much to listen to.

OK, back then, I used to listen to submarine communications. But, just when things would get interesting in those communications, one of the communicators would say something along the line of ~let's go green.~ After that, the comm I was listening to became unintelligible. (imo, I viewed that as A Good Thing).

OK, that background story aside, also back in the day I noticed jammers.

So, jammers are nothing new to me, but maybe cheap Chinese jammers are a new thing.

Hi Lamplighter: The issue is the increase in the influx of these signal jammers which have been used to commit crimes in the US and interfere with GPS and aviation communications. We are already experiencing a decline in air safety under 'President Plane Crash.'

PS: A few years ago I almost bought a Ham radio, but opted against it. I'd rather read, blog, play some music, cook for my wife, or write short stories.

No TV.

You write short stories?

That's kinda cool.

I've been reading a lot about the use of jammers in home invasions to disable camera systems that work on Wifi and also to prevent outgoing calls.

The examples I saw weren't handheld, though, but were carried in a backpack.

Hi JPW: Yes, you are correct about the larger jammers used in home invasions and possibly aircraft. I showed the smaller version in my OP. My wife and I keep an old-style landline telephone that will work in a power outage and that can't be jammed. Sure enough, during a blackout a few years ago one of our friends without a landline killed the battery on his Smartphone and he was unable to call anyone.

The sidenote in this issue is the amount of electromagnetic fields (EMF) and radiofrequency (RF) radiation we are all being bombarded with day in and day out in the 5G network: www.isaca.org

That's why I bought a solar powered power pack. At the very least, keep small electronics charged and useable. Gas generator does the rest.

I'm not interested in jamming aircraft - unless they have pigs in them.

But ANYTHING that poses a threat to the worthless garbage scum pigs is ok with me. As far as I'm concerned, they should stop beating their spouses long enough to use their guns to put bullets in their own worthless heads. The world would be better off without them in it.

A jammer sounds like a great weapon to have available if an evil AI ever gets mobile near you.

"But ANYTHING that poses a threat to the worthless garbage scum pigs is ok with me. As far as I'm concerned, they should stop beating their spouses long enough to use their guns to put bullets in their own worthless heads. The world would be better off without them in it."

So the 11 million positive interactions cops have with people every year is completely ignored because a thousand may be bad (and a thousand is a VERY high estimate, actual interactions that go bad are much less than that...but lets use those numbers). So that equates to something like .00009ish percent (may be missing a leading zero so sue me) but let's call it .0001% of ease of math. And that makes you believe they should kill themselves and that they are all spouse beaters because some do things they shouldn't. Remember that because that is your logical precedent.

Let me educate you on why your hypocrisy is so bad for America. If .0001% of a group causes that entire group to be bad, then you are actually agreeing that all illegal immigrants are bad. I mean, it's only a tiny percent (once you get to .0001% the measurement can just be called a "tiny percent") of them that commit rape, murders, etc. In fact, there were more examples in the media last year of illegal immigrants causing major crimes than police causing major crimes btw. But, since liberals agree that a tiny percent can ---- the entire population according to their logical precedent, then liberals must agree that illegal immigrants are bad and should all kill themselves. Or just finally accept you are a hypocritical party that has decayed so that you can start on the path to recovery and maybe become an effective party again that can prevent someone like Trump from actually being considered a legitimate political candidate.
