"By one unique metric, we could approach technological singularity by the end of this decade, if not sooner.
A translation company developed a metric, Time to Edit (TTE), to calculate the time it takes for professional human editors to fix AI-generated translations compared to human ones. This may help quantify the speed toward singularity.
An AI that can translate speech as well as a human could change society."

Good point. Someone ask the AI what Covfefe means.

Well, if one asks Grok, what does Covfefe mean, one is told"In summary, Covfefe has no definitive meaning"it's a cultural phenomenon born from a presumed typo, symbolizing internet humor, political discourse, and the power of social media to amplify mistakes."
Income inequality is increasing, and being made the law of the land, and so, eventually, we will go the way of the old Soviet Union, or the Roman Empire, for that matter, and when the changes occur, the streets will run red with blood, as civil war is the nightmare all nations face, sooner or later. Unless, of course, the rich in this country can get the very poor to be locked inside Occupied Territory apartheid outdoor prisons.

End stage capitalism is fun.
It's like the fall of the Roman Empire, but with wifi.

Income inequality is increasing, and being made the law of the land,
No it isn't and in 2021-2022 it even decreased, even globally its been decreasing since the 1990's. Thanks to Capitalisms spread.
The only place its increasing is in california.

I see our DR village idiot has shown up. Always good for a chuckle!
No need to worry about AI or the massive transfer of wealth from the middle class to the wealthiest families that was just super-embedded into our new Trump tax code, or Epstein's sex trafficking of thousands, or our loss of freedom. We have a job go do! We have to get busy blaming all those icky "others!"

^ In the US, the share of income going to the top 1% rose from 14.7% in 1990 to 20.9% in 2022. www.caixabankresearch.com
Between 2012 and 2023, the members of the world millionaires club grew by nearly 91 percent, compared to just a 14 percent growth rate for the total global population over the same time period. The vast majority of the world's millionaires hold less than $5 million in assets. But the top tier, those with at least $30 million, have expanded their ranks the fastest, according to Capgemini. Since 2012, the top wealth group of individuals with at least $30 million has increased by 98 percent. inequality.org

The Singularity is Nearer than ever.
And it cannot be stopped. If you don't have access to your own personal AI you are already falling behind.
The billionaires are spending millions on life extension products and regiments just to make it to the event horizon.
The thought is if you make it to the Singularity all bets are off and AI will be able to figure out how to help humans live forever.
I am pretty sure them billionaires (and and the rest of us) are in for a big surprise.
AI is an advanced intelligence being dropped into our midst.
Imagine if an advance intelligence just landed on the planet.
As history shows us (stupid history!) when an advanced group meets a much weaker group things don't tend to work out well for the weaker intelligence. And we haven't advanced enough as a species to change that.
One thing is for sure. If you don't like change and progress now you definitely won't like it then.
Nothing will ever be the same.

"The only place its increasing is in california."
Anyone who doesn't expect the widest income equality in the state which offers the greatest monetary opportunities doesn't understand the equation.

AI robots to replace we dumb and dirty humans is coming along nicely, isn't it? The Elites get to own the workers as slaves instead of all this human dignity nonsense... and having to pay them all the time!
