Michael Virgil was traveling with his fiance Connie Aguilar and their seven-year-old autistic son from Los Angeles to Mexico on 13 Dec 2024.

The lawsuit says that trouble began moments after the family boarded the cruise and learned their room was not ready.
It also claimed that the cruise line failed to intervene to protect' Michael's life, stating: At all relevant times hereto, Royal Caribbean had the right to refuse the continued service of alcohol to any patron visibly intoxicated.'

The filed lawsuit says that, when security moved in, crew members tackled him and stood on [him] with their full body weight,' making it difficult for Michael to move.

The lawsuit also alleged that the ship's captain ordered that he be injected with the sedative Haloperidol, and that multiple cans' of pepper spray were used.

Haloperidol is an anti-psychotic medicine which can help with feelings of anxiety and other symptoms of mental health conditions. Michael died within hours of being restrained, according to the filing.

The timeline is unclear and I wasn't able to find the original legal documents. On the cruises I've been on, the bars are already fill after the PAX have checked into their rooms.

These cruise ships have a few-hour turnaround to disembark out-going PAX, then load in-coming PAX. If Michael Virgil's cabin wasn't ready, that means the previous occupant either made a huge mess or there was a mechanical issue with the cabin (e.g. leak, broken lock) that took longer than three hours to clean or repair.

One blogger wrote: "The ship empties out at about 0900 HRS and starts boarding just before noon; cabins weren't open till 1300 or 1330 HRS."

So, I imagine Michael Virgil began his death binge around 1300 or 1330 HRS after he learned his cabin wasn't ready.
