Police officers, federal agents, soldiers -- anyone empowered to detain, arrest, or use force -- must be identifiable both to their chain of command, and to the citizens in whose name they act.

Hertling notes:

ICE agents now regularly operate masked, heavily militarized, and"most troubling"without any visible identification. ICE officials argue that masks are necessary to prevent doxxing or harassment. But that rationale collapses under scrutiny, especially in a democracy.

In democratic societies, the use of lawful force depends on legitimacy. Legitimacy depends on accountability. And accountability begins with identification.
...
Public scrutiny is not a threat to legitimate law enforcement; it is one of its safeguards. If agents are acting lawfully, ethically, and in accordance with policy guidelines and published standards, identification protects them as much as it protects the public. If they are not identifiable, anonymity enables abuse.

Masks may have a place in specific, tactical circumstances, like special operations. But as a routine posture for domestic law enforcement, especially when combined with military-style gear and no identifying markers, it erodes trust. Once trust is lost, it is not easily rebuilt.

In Iraq, scarves came off as confidence grew. Yet we seem to be moving in the opposite direction. That should concern anyone who believes that power in a democracy must always have a face"and a name.

ICE agents are thug vaginas who hide behind masks. Like the KKK.

Top DOJ officials quit after their division refused to probe Minnesota ICE shooting
At least four leaders of the Civil Rights Division resigned because the section's head, Harmeet Dhillon, decided not to investigate shooting of Renee Good.

Cover up.

Jonathan Ross, the guy who killed Renee Good, evidently served with the Border Patrol for eight years (www.nbcnews.com). This fact does not establish anything beyond a bit of work history. However, it does suggest some avenues for investigation. For instance, in my experience, BP officers tend to be surly badge festishists to whom someone not very smart gave a firearm. In elementary school they would've tried to muscle away your lunch money. I've done a bit of checking but can't find out the degree to which BP has become a feeder for ICE, with its lowered standards, camp recruiting posters, and sign-on bonuses. For that matter, I would love to know how many Proud Boys and possessors of presidential pardons have taken up the badge, gun, pepper spray, and anonymity of a mask to cosplay Horst Wessel.

"[Jonathan] Ross testified that he was also a member of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force as well as a firearms instructor and field intelligence officer. Ross said some of his work involves investigating organized crime and working on national security cases."

Overinflated credentials.

If Ross was all this and more, he would not want to settle on being a deportation flunky. He is not a college graduate from what I can see.

The "cream" of DHS is HSI: College-educated GS-1811 Criminal Investigator Special Agents, followed by DHS OIG.

HSI SAs wear raid jackets that say "HSI," not "ICE," as do OIG SAs.

Basically, these fat fascist fools in ICE and other federal agencies are being enabled to go into blue states and cities and assault whomever they like with their mace and clubs and think their cool. Karma is a real bitch scumbags and justice shall be served on you before this is over. No warrant with a judge's signature with a full name of someone that has broken the law and needs to be taken in otherwise, you are breaking the US constitution.

Problem is, Immigration control and enforcement is a valuable tool, one that all nations employ. Problem is, Trump is using ICE as his brownshirts, trying to turn America into a fascist regime, and in order to empower himself he needs to have chaos on the streets.
