Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, January 15, 2026

Every American deserves to be healthy - but too many Americans are sick and don't know why. That is because their government has been unwilling to tell them the truth. For decades, the U.S. government has recommended and incentivized low quality, highly processed foods and drug interventions instead of prevention.Under the leadership of President Trump, the government is now going to tell Americans the truth. Today, the White House released the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025"2030, the most significant reset of federal nutrition policy in decades

The recently released upside-down food pyramid is already drawing criticism for its ties to the meat and dairy industry.

I cannot even begin to describe how big this change is. The old guidelines were terrible. Absolutely awful. I'm no fan of RFK Jr however on this he got it absolutely right.

I read it and to honest, I'm surprised the giant corporations allowed it to be published. Reducing processed foods and added sugars is a great idea. It actually says to not give kids any sugar at all.
I do personally think that RFKjr. is an absolute loon, and don't get me started on King Dotard, but I like this.

Yep, RFK Jr is a loon but I'm glad you see this for what it is and are giving credit where it's due. One thing about the loon, he's always hated corporate lobbyists which played into this welcome change happening.

WTF are you talking about?

He literally just crowned the dairy and beef industry lobbies as Kings.

Saturated Fat is now at the TOP of the food pyramid. And goodbye Fiber. Its only slightly better than the old pyramid.

And in medicine, he replaced the experts with influencers being paid to get clicks/views by lying.

" Saturated Fat is now at the TOP of the food pyramid"

Sometimes I wonder why you even bother posting. From the link:

" Ending the War on Healthy Fats: The guidance calls for receiving the bulk of fat from whole food sources, such as meats, poultry, eggs, omega 3"rich seafood, nuts, seeds, full-fat dairy, olives, and avocados. When cooking with or adding fats to meals, the guidelines call for using the most nutrient-dense natural options with essential fatty acids, such as olive oil."

" Heralding whole grains and avoiding refined carbohydrates: This guidance takes a firm stand to "prioritize fiber-rich whole grains" and "significantly reduce the consumption of highly processed, refined carbohydrates, such as white bread, ready-to-eat or packaged breakfast options, flour tortillas, and crackers."Including diets lower in carbohydrates to manage chronic disease:"

The old Food Pyramid wasn't the product of science to begin with.

I don't much care for RFK Jr. politics but it's not hard to figure out most Americans have a lousy diet.

Most Americans have a lousy diet because Americans live in a country dedicated to the relentless pursuit of profit, and it's more profitable to set up fast food joints and strip malls full of chain restaurants, compared to quality grocery stores and fresh markets.

Whole Foods for example. You can get good quality food there. There ain't no Whole Foods in the ghetto. They get Dollar General.

My solution to unhealthy food is a threat to the profit motive, so it would only ever get implemented in an emergency.

Cities could simply set up soup kitchens where anybody can get healthy, nutritious food. It would probably not cost any more than providing public transit. Actually it would probably cost significantly less, since most of the staffing could come from people already involved in similar organizations on a charitable basis.

This is the organizing principle of Rainbow Gathering, which in turn was simply adapted from battlefield tactics observed by a hippie who got drafted and sent to Vietnam. About eighty people can be served by one kitchen until you need more kitchens.

To scale past that you need a dedicated commercial kitchen. In San Diego there's a senior drop-in center that provides free or reduced cost meals to anyone over 55. They serve about 1,000 people daily on-site and I don't know how many more meals go out in the Meals On Wheels vans.

But I think it makes more sense for ktiches to represent a neighborhood, a local community. So set up one every few blocks.

I mean, there's no shortage of vacant lots in the ------ parts of our cities that need this support.

Like all those National Guard people Trump has deployed in our cities.
They could be running soup kitchens right now.
That could be the mission.
They could be helping.
----, Biden could have been helping, why didn't he?
Because it would be bad for business.

Trump isn't helping because he thinks America is a nation to be conquered, not led.

Now, to pretend that following these guidelines is easy or cheap is just downright delusional.
