Diplomats in Havana are preparing for an alternative Trump tactic: the country being starved until people take to the streets and the US can step in

Cuba has addressed the UNSG regarding "aggressive escalation by the current US Admin against Cuba, including the EO signed by President Trump on 1/29 with the aim of imposing a total blockade on fuel supplies to the country". Document 2/4/26: documents.un.org/doc/undoc/ge ...

Mark Carney said that Canada is "considering" sending aid to Cuba. Before COVID, one million Canadians visited Cuba every year. Their convertavle peso is pegged to the Canadian Dollar. I argue that we need to send fuel and supplies ASAP, regardless of Trump. noraloreto.substack.com/p/canada-mus ...

What is Pres Trump's strategy to help the people of Cuba?

Does he have one that he has announced?

Trump will topple as many countries as it takes to prove he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

@#2

Maybe the Nobel Committee will award him the prize just to stop him from wreaking destruction upon the world?

But my guess is that Pres Trump wouldn't be satisfied at that.

He would want the super-duper Nobel Peace prize that no one else has ever attained.

The "Trump - Nobel Peace Prize" which has been named after him.

Like the Kennedy Center.

Tourism waned since peak of 2018.

I suppose Trump could save Cuba by claiming its a "--------" country, and perhaps Gaslighter and Snoofy could arrange a boat trip there to see how its going. But would you go again? Thats what Cuba was hoping, but its fallen. I don't know anyone thats been.

Cuba mismanaged its situation sunk money in dying industries, it was in a precarious one where missteps had dire consequences.

Trump has seen "The Godfather II" enough times to want control of newly-opened casinos, starting in, oh, a year. Eric will run the place until Li'l Marco gets up the nerve to be the island's Viceroy. Of course, the Cuban expats in Dade County will want to go back, so long as they regain control over the lives of those who have lived there for the past 65 years. I can see it now--glitz and poverty, loud-talking Americans speaking Spanish with Florida accents, enough graft to go around, boatloads of money arriving from Washington, with only 2/3 of it stolen, locals treated like criminals and Las Vegas supplanted for a new playground...

I spend a lot of time in Albania. It was once the North Korea of Europe. Today it is populated by luxury cars, and some of the best beaches on the planet. Transition to a market economy brought in lots of investment, and it's paying off.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find an Albania who prefer the dictator and his impoverished schemes.
