Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, March 23, 2026

Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, Association of Professional Flight Attendants, International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 135, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers: "The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has billions of dollars in discretionary funding that could be used to pay TSOs during this partial shutdown, just like they have chosen to continue paying active duty members of the U.S. Coast Guard. The administration has also continued to pay ICE and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents. Instead of paying TSOs, they have chosen to create havoc in our airports. This latest threat of ICE invasion at the airports is another distraction from solutions that protect Americans."

ZERO Republican Senators voted to fund TSA. This is the seventh time Republicans have blocked pay for TSA. Seven. Times. They would rather hold TSA hostage to try to force billions more for an unrestrained, out of control ICE. Despicable.

Project 2025 calls for TSA to be privatized.

Republicans are following orders to funnel more taxpayer dollars into to bank accounts of billionaires.

Fund the DHS. This shouldn't even be controversial. Even the Dem sycophants in the MSM are starting to call out Dems for this BS.

DeFund the DHS. It should be completely dismantled. It has become a Frankenstein monster. This shouldn't even be controversial.

Trump was offered an off-ramp to the DHS shutdown but he didn't take it. Maybe next time!

I agree. It's a post 9/11 knee-jerk creation of an agency that is totally redundant. Having said that, if it's to be dismantled it needs to be done so responsibly and in an orderly fashion with its resources redirected to other agencies. What I happening now is not the way to go about it.

The Republicans are holding the country hostage to fund anti-American ICE. Human rights are enshrined in our nation's Constitution. ICE violates that Constitution.
"Immigration enforcement" is just a front for their fascist thuggery

Still, as a clear Russian asset, Trump is doing his buddy Putin, quite proud. Americans are divided one against another, and against our traditional foreign allies, and certainly NATO is weaker...

The BBB already funds ICE through 2029. This Schumer shutdown has nothing to do with ICE funding.

Paying ICE overtime while DHS works for free.

This makes sense to Republicans.

@#18 ... Paying ICE overtime while DHS works for free.

This makes sense to Republicans. ...

The local TV stations news reports show ICE agents wandering around aimlessly in the NYC airports. Not apparently doing anything except "being there." Not helping TSA.

So, Pres Trump apparently wants to pay them to do nothing, instead of paying TSA agents who actually do something?

My guess is that this failed deployment of ICE to our airports is a trial run for deploying ICE to election polling places in November.

OMG, I and Mr Bannon agree?

Bannon says ICE at airports test run' for 2026 elections
thehill.com

... Former White House strategist and podcaster Steve Bannon said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel assisting with airport operations is a "test run" for the 2026 midterms.

During a conversation with conservative lawyer Mike Davis on his "War Room" program, Bannon asked, "We can use what's happening with these ICE [authorities] helping out at the airports, we can use this as a test run, as a test case to really perfect ICE's involvement in the 2026 midterm elections, sir?"

Davis responded, "Yeah, I think we should have ICE agents at the polling places, because if you're an illegal alien you can't vote, right? It's against the law, it's a federal crime for you to vote in federal elections."

"And so, if you're an American citizen, you should be happy that ICE is there, because you're not going to have illegal aliens canceling out your vote," he added.

"Exactly," Bannon replied. "Pick em out of line starting today, and maybe the lines will get shorter." ...

Wow.
