More than 10,000 times, judges have said those detentions, typically carried out with no opportunity for detainees to plead their case, were illegal. That's roughly 90 percent of all cases " a staggering rejection of a core piece of Trump's immigration agenda.

"This isn't how things are supposed to work in America," wrote U.S. District Judge Gary Brown, a Trump appointee based in New York, in the case of a man whose lawful status was revoked after ICE arrested him.

"Unquestionably, the laws of human decency condemn such villainy."

"You know what the people are actually going to see? They're going to see that this administration has repeatedly violated the law and is resorting to accusing Trump's own judicial appointees of being partisan hacks.

That's not going to play well with people who actually pay attention to these things. And it won't budge the needle at all with the Trump faithful who either can't or won't keep up with the autocratic overtures being pitched by their own personal Jesus.

Unfortunately, the Trump loyalists in the Supreme Court are just as willing to be deliberately ignorant of the law when the administration asks them to rule in its favor.

We don't expect average Americans to grasp the intricacies of decades of precedential rulings. But we should expect the nation's highest court to comprehend that 400+ judges and 10,000+ rulings might add up to something it shouldn't ignore, no matter how much the conservative majority might want to please the person they now seem to view as a king, rather than a president."

But... but... Trump is NEVER wrong!!

"judges have ruled against ICE detention practices in roughly 90 percent of cases since the agency mandated that millions of immigrants must be locked" www.politico.com

The White House is blaming liberal judges but the truth is of the 10K+ cases were handled by nearly 500 different judges, many of those who were appointed by Trump and other republican presidents.

I will remind everyone that the GOP had a chance to actually address the issue in 2024. The senate's comprehensive bipartisan Senate border deal looked like it was on its way to passing until Donald Trump urged Republicans to vote against it. Instead the Republican led House and Senate have ended up delivering absolutely nothing with regard to border and immigration reform which is exactly what Lindsey Graham warned would happen when he said "To those who think that if President Trump wins...that we can get a better deal " you won't."

One of the saving graces of the Biden Administration is that although they did not appoint many Muslim- or Sikh-Americans to positions of power, they did appoint many progressive federal judges to the bench.

I have noted them in some of my OPs.

These jurists are amongst the vanguard who is helping stop Dummkopf Trumpf from completely going Fourth Reich, try as he does anyway.

One of the many in this vanguard is the Honorable Nina Morrison. She is more than ably filling in the robes of the late USDJ Jack Weinstein, a Solomon whom I have come before a few times in EDNY (and not in handcuffs).

"FFS," if you are ever jammed up by the Feds in EDNY, get a Legal Aid Society defender and hope you get her to try your case. With Nina Morrison, you'll get more than a fair shake.
