Iran & Egypt discover they are playing a Gay Pride match

Iran's head coach Amir Ghalenoei says he will not address "things that do not exist" as his team prepares to play Egypt in the Pride Match in Seattle. Local organisers have designated the game as a Pride Match because it falls on the Friday before Pride Weekend, which celebrates diversity and the LGBTQ+ community.

"We are here to play football, not for other things," Ghalenoei said. "As for things that are forbidden in our religion and do not exist, we do not want to talk about them. We only talk about the match, football and the beauty of the game."

The Egyptian and Iranian Football Associations have reportedly informed FIFA that their teams will walk off the pitch immediately if any of their players or staff are subjected to unauthorized LGBTQ-related symbols or displays.

When the WC was held in Qatar all LGBTQ imagery was banned because we had to "respect their culture".
Now the ruby slipper is on the other foot but once again it is "we" that must respect "their" culture.

That's how it works with muslim ~air quotes~ "culture". Respect, like a river, only flows one way.

If they decide to take their ball and go home Scotland moves on. Streakers. Kilts. Lads on a bender.
