Republican Ohio Gov Mike DeWine after SCOTUS ruling to end TPS for Haitians: "These folks [Haitians] are caregivers for our elderly, it just makes no sense. It is not in the United States' interest, certainly not in Ohio's interest, to have people who are working every single day, who are supporting a family, who are buying houses, fixing up old houses, starting businesses, and then put deep roots in this country and really are contributing and yank them out."

Gov Mike DeWine (R-OH):

"What I would hope that the Trumpf junta would do is reconsider this. Look at how it's going to impact states like Ohio. In Ohio, the Haitians are working primarily in manufacturing. They're also working in the food area.

"But if you look at where they're working across the country, probably the most important area they're working is in health care. It's Haitians who many times are taking care of your mom or your dad who has Alzheimer's, taking care of family members who might be in a nursing home.

"And to say we're going to pull all those out, it's just not in our own self-interest."

The collapse of Springfield, Ohio was staved off with the arrival of Haitian immigrants, who set out to take advantage of their opportunities for a better life, and became productive members of society there. The possible removal of these people from that town will seal its fate. The Trump voters in Springfield are about to get what they voted for, and let's hope they get treated to becoming economic migrants, moving elsewhere for employment...

"I don't feel charitable toward this group of people at all. There are multiple sob stories out there about these Haitians now. They're trying to peddle this like, oh, they're just here.

"Mike DeWine, the governor, like, oh, they're just you know, they're contributing to society. John Kasich, who's the former governor of Ohio. I knew him at Fox News. I can't believe he's talking like this.

"Why should American citizens have to suffer indefinitely because Haiti can't get its ---- together? Because Haiti is still not hospitable to American tourists.

"I'm going to guess it's a little better if you're an actual Haitian. Going back home, no. We're not going to go down there to tour. Yes. We do think it's a sh*thole country.

"They need to go back home. They didn't assimilate. They've been disrupting these communities. I don't know about these sob stories that these two governors of Ohio are trying to spin to us. But let me tell you what the real story is. Okay?

"Because we went back and combed through the news reports about these Haitians, these wonderful Haitians that we're told all about who are allegedly just like you and me. They're just living life in, you know, rural Ohio just like their fellow Americans. It's not true."
