Saw it last night. It was very good. You have got to be a psycho case to see a big, beautiful and exciting movie like that and come out of it feeling even a little bit twisted out of shape by some of the casting choices.

Helen of Troy, a woman who was definitely white is going to be played by Lupita Nyong'o. And I've got nothing against Lupita but I do have a problem with the complete rewriting of history. - Newsmax Host Rob Finnerty

I'm really curious how many posters on this site agree with him.

Lupita Nyong'o was great as Helen.

I suspect this alleged race casting was introduced by Nolan to cover for the real issue of where this was filmed and what was going on around him to those locals for one full year.

Wow, "occupated". You're welcome Merriam-Webster!

Saw The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm

As many know, I value cinematic accuracy.

Some complain about its "Woke" casting. But Christopher Nolan's choice to have actors speak English rather than authentic Ancient Greek in original dactylic hexameter is what I found to be most incredulous.

To me, all of this kind of posturing is stupid on both sides. The definition of acting is pretending to be something else than what you are. I'm just as cool with Brad Pitt playing a Chinese guy as I am with whatever lily white dude who plays Jesus in all those movies the XTian industrial complex churns out.
It's fiction and one of the main problems humanity has in the modern age is not being able to tell the difference.
