A former Louisiana police chief has pleaded guilty for his role in a yearslong scheme that used fake police reports to fraudulently obtain U visas for immigrants, according to federal officials.

In case you're wondering, the political affiliation of the indicted police chiefs covers the spectrum, with a Democrat, a Republican and an independent officer holder represented. State history has shown us corruption is not confined to a particular party.

While each man is presumed innocent before their case is heard, their indictment serves as a reminder that not all immigration threats are what those in power would have us believe them to be.

In Louisiana, they could just be business as usual.
