So, the wealthy owners in the football industry now seem to be exploiting and killing high-school students?
Can Texas high school football handle the heat? www.reuters.com
... High school football is one of the United States' most revered traditions. But it is under sharp pressure as the world suffers from intensifying heat waves, which Reuters recently revealed have morphed from intermittent events to globe-spanning phenomena we call "heat storms." I was talking to a bar buddy earlier who observed that college ball simply isn't bringing in the fans anymore. Could be. I can believe that football isn't what it once was. Prediction: In 10-20 years, soccer will be the preeminent team sport in America.

Now it's big in a medium way. I've never seen my bar more packed than when Mexico was playing in the FIFA tournament. It was as a lot of fun.

Pro and College major sports have been reduced to carrying vehicles for gambling, "fantasy sport" and advertising and, as such, I quit giving a damn. I'll drop into ESPN.com to check scores now and then, but I'm done centering my free time around it.
