Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) re-introduced the "Safe Students Act." The "Safe Students Act" (H.R. 5066) repeals the "Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990," (GFSZA) eliminating GFSZA's one-size-fits-all federal ban on guns in school zones. Enactment of the "Safe Students Act" would make it easier for state and local governments and school boards to unambiguously set their own firearms policies. "Gun-free zones are ineffective and make our schools less safe. Since 1950, 94% of mass public shootings have occurred in places where citizens are banned from having guns," Rep. Thomas Massie bleated. "Banks, churches, sports stadiums, and many of my colleagues in Congress are protected with firearms. Yet children inside the classroom are too frequently left vulnerable." Another gun advocate sniveled: "Instead of protecting' our kids with a tin sign, let's defend them with something that makes a difference: a good guy with a gun." read more

  • Florida may lose $218 million after a judge ordered "Alligator Alcatraz" closed. The Florida Division of Emergency Management will lose most of the value of the $218 million it has invested in cobbling the airport into a jungle gulag. Hurricane-prone Florida could have used that money much more wisely.
  • The Sunshine State executed its eleventh prisoner of the year, leading the US in this abhorrent practice.
  • Dangerous safety issues plague the St Lucie nuclear power plant.
  • Floridians' electric rates may increase by billions of dollars over the next four years.
  • Florida's waters are getting more polluted, fueling algae blooms and wreaking environmental havoc.
  • In an average year, 3,108 people die and 6,358 are wounded by guns in Florida. This exceeds the total number of US military deaths in Afghanistan over a span of 20 years: 7 Oct 2001 to 30 Aug 2021 (2,459 total deaths; 1,922 had been KIA). read more

An IDF airstrike killed PM Ahmed al-Rahawi of the Houthi government in Yemen's capital Sanaa. He was the most senior Houthi official killed in the Israeli-US campaign against the Shia Arab fighters. Ahmed al-Rahawi was targeted along with other members of his government who were wounded in the assassination attack. PM al-Rahawi wasn't part of the High Command that runs the military and strategic affairs of the Houthi resistance fighters; he was tasked with running the day-to-day civilian affairs in Sanaa and other Houthi-held areas. "Yemen endures a lot for the victory of the Palestinian people," al-Rahawi had said following an IDF strike last week that struck an oil facility and a power plant. Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin-Salman (AKA MBS or Muhammad "Bone Saws") fiercely opposes the Shia Houthi Yemenis as they are seen as heretics by the Salafist Saudis and Sunni Yemenis. read more

USAG Pam Bondi fired a Justice Department (DOJ) staffer for "inappropriate conduct" toward National Guard troops deployed to patrol Washington amid Dummkopf Trumpf's federal police takeover. Trumpf sycophant Bondi terminated Elizabeth Baxter, who worked in the DOJ's Environment and Natural Resources Division. Ms. Baxter reportedly bragged to DOJ security guards that she told soldiers "F**k the National Guard" and "F**k off!" and flipped them off. Baxter is the second DOJ employee who was fired by Bondi this month for behavior she personally deemed unacceptable. Incompetent lickspittle Pam Bondi botched the Jeffrey Epstein FBI files release, generating a personal feud with DD/FBI Dan Bongino while embarrassing the Trumpf junta and putting them on the defensive. Thank you, Lamplighter. The American people have had enough war, despite what the TV tumors, lobbyists, polemicists, or Islamophobes push on us on behalf of Israel or the US military-industrial complex. Here is one AI analysis:

As of mid-2025, the American antiwar movement has seen a significant resurgence, particularly in response to Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip. Over one million Americans have participated in protests related to the Nakba since late 2023, with more than 2,100 events held in support of Palestine. These protests have been widespread, occurring on university campuses, in major cities, and at cultural events, making it one of the largest waves of antiwar activism in the US in the past 20 years. These demonstrations is comparable to, and in some cases larger than, the protests seen during the Iraq War, with some individual marches drawing tens of thousands of participants. While the movement is not as large as the Vietnam War-era protests which involved tens of millions of Americans over several years, the recent activism is notable for its intensity, frequency, and the diversity of its participants, including students, progressives, Arab-Americans, and Muslims. The movement has also influenced cultural and political events, such as the boycott of the SXSW festival and disruptions at high-profile public appearances. In summary, the current American antiwar movement is substantial and highly visible, with participation in the millions and a broad geographic and demographic reach.
