Interviews I have seen of MAGA supporters like the strong man image that Trump supposedly portrays. I interpret that such that MAGA supporters have given up on the democratic process. They have insufficient numbers of voters to install enough politicians to move the country in their preferred direction so they want an authoritarian to impose his will on the country. Unfortunately, the reporter asking the questions never follows up with something like: Since you want a strong man as leader, would you want Biden to be an authoritarian? Of course the answer would be no but it would show the MAGA supporter how much of a hypocritical, undemocratic person they really are.

The solution to this is very simple but only if Harris is elected: radically increase NASA's budget for building and flying it's own equipment. This will send a strong message to Musk and Bezos that their business interest can be threatened by both sides. Harris' response was not sufficient. She should have talked about the uniqueness of each presidency; that quite often a presidency is shaped by major events that must be addressed and that the moral values and experiences of the individual holding the office of president will shape the response.

When asked about why Trump has a higher poll rating wrt the economy she should have also mentioned that republicans have historically polled better than democrats on that question. She also should have talked about the performance of the economy when he took office and the performance when he left and reminded the audience that the downturn of the economy was reminiscent of the his penchant for driving businesses into bankruptcy!

For tariffs to achieve Trump's goal of incentivizing companies to make more products here, they have to be onerous. Onerous to the point of causing trade in that product to essentially come to a halt. Even then, bringing manufacturing back on shore is a multi year project. What happens during the interim: tremendous inflation because stateside manufacturers of similar products are not likely to be able to meet the demand and will increase their prices because that's what capitalists do.

It's a little late but the tax code needs to change to remove the incentives for offshoring production. Also, provide tax incentives for onshoring production.

If Trump loses, and I strongly suspect that he will, I don't expect any widespread violence. There will be some incidents but nothing that local law enforcement can't handle unless some federal statue is violated. Jan 6 prosecutions have put a lot of the faithful on notice that there will be consequences. The higher ups may have been able to postpone justice but the presence of Trump and other Jan 6 protesters in prison will be a deterrent to most.

It is important for companies to take a stand one way or another. That way people know where to spend the money.

I do think that the feds will have to place some restrictions on paying for repeated damages to the same property. Maybe a rule to the effect that the feds will pay for the damage on this lot/block but will not pay for subsequent damage UNLESS you upgrade you take appropriate steps to mitigate future damages IOW if you don't put your house on stilts and rebuild to sustain winds of a Cat ? hurricane, you will not get federal assistance for any future damages.
