Yeah, what you cite seems to be a description of gun owners being careless with their guns.

A friend of mine is a gun enthusiast. One time visiting his house he led me to a spare bedroom where he had many guns on the floor. "Look at those," he said. "Aren't they great?" I asked about the unsecured aspect of those guns, and he said, ~who cares?~ He has children in that house.

So, to your point, I agree that those who own guns need to be quite more responsible regarding that ownership.

But, is that the end-all solution?
